Wife orders Suarez to improve image after latest on-pitch misdemeanour

      By Dominic King

Luis Suarez is heeding warnings from his wife Sofia in an attempt to change his image.

The Liverpool striker, serving a 10-match suspension for biting Branislav Ivanovic, was described as 'sometimes having the mentality of a child' by Henk Veldmate, the director of football who brought him to Europe when he signed for Groningen.

Although Suarez, 26, has tempered his behaviour since the start of the season, his wife has told him that the image he portrays is proving detrimental.

Cool it: Luis Suarez's wife, Sofia, wanted the Liverpool striker to clean up his image

Like a child: Luis Suarez was described as such by the man who brought him to Europe

Now the Uruguayan says he intends to use her advice to help his rehabilitation.

In an interview with Liverpool's official magazine, Suarez revealed: 'My wife has made observations like, "You were arguing with the referee and the defenders too much; you didn't really seem up for it; you might as well have not been on the pitch".

'I go away, think about it and realise she was right. 'She said people must go away and think that is what I am like off the pitch, even though I'm usually relaxed and easy-going.

'Having a wife that closely watches the game is good. She knows me better than anyone else and I want her observations to help me play better and be a happier person.'

Veldmate, who took Suarez to Holland in 2006, said: 'In the way he likes playing football, he sometimes has the mentality of a child. If you compare the mentality and attitude to Dutch players, then in South America it's dead or alive.'

      Thanks very much for being

The state of that hood on the hoody Luis. It doesn't conceal him that well really.

Gerrard has spoken. He believes Suarez will stay. Interestingly, also says we need another striker. Wonder who it will be

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know we still need another striker," he said.

"You look at top teams in Europe and at United, City and Chelsea, and they all have three or four top strikers. That's something we haven't had.

"We had one until January. Then Sturridge came in and we have two. In my opinion, to compete at the top we need to have three or four strikers."
                        Yeah! Thanks a lot, mate!
