Think what Alex meant (and probably rightly so), is that sometimes we've made statements of public support in favour of him when maybe we would have been better advised keeping quiet. He's had Kenny and even Rodgers stick up for him a lot, and even fellow players. All received stick for it. One that sticks in the mind recently is over diving, when BR supported him in face of constant questions, only for him to go and give an interview admitting he dived against Stoke to try and win the game.
If he decides to move on, I'd see it as a huge slap in the face because he's had a whole lot of support from everyone connected with the club. I don't think he will move though
