My concern is that if we do sell Suarez, why on earth are Marca continuing to mention this buy-out clause? £40million is not enough for Suarez, but it's a concern that this clause is being mentioned as fact and fiction. Which is it?

Tony Barrett said yesterday that there is a clause in his contract but it is higher than 40m.

I find him a reliable source so I do believe there is one.

If it's higher (by £10m-£20m), then that's better.

I've never entirely warmed to him (as per my earlier comments about his behaviour in this thread). We've had one great season from him, but his behaviour is a liability and has seriously damaged the reputation of the club. There's no doubt that he is a world class talent, but I don't really buy this "he only bites people, punches people, makes potentially racist comments, moans about everything, and throws himself on the floor at the slightest contact because he cares so much". It's far too much like parents who defend their child's appalling behaviour by claiming that it's because he / she is just so clever that they need to express themselves.

If he does leave and we spend the money sensibly, I think we can come out of this with an improved team, and a better chance of getting back into the top four. After all, we keep finishing behind Everton, and I don't think that they have better individual players than us in most positions. They're just a better team unit, and I think that Brendan can develop that here, but with some proper flair players thrown in (ones that don't get banned regularly).

Edit: And before any smartarse points out that I have a Suarez avatar, it's because I thought what he did on that occasion was funny, not because he's my hero. And not because I think that his diving is acceptable. Does that cover all the bases?
Saurez has been posting nasty comments in this thread? What's his user name?

                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

To be honest, if Suarez has said that the British media make him want to leave, and what the Uruguayan media said is lied, he should just keep his mouth shut and not ****ing speak to any of them, if he feels he's constantly being lied about.

You should call him a bellend on Twitter. That'll learn him.

                                Still doesn't make it true.

I'll believe in Suarez Clause when I start believing in Santa Clause.
