The only way I would be pacified if Suarez went to Chelsea would be an exchange with Mata plus £25m.

Maybe it will be Coutinho. Who knows. But we need to move away from being a team reliant on one or two players as well. It's the only real chance we have of breaking the Top 4 (similar to Spurs). Create a team that is solid and has a few players in it that can win a game, rather than reliant on one or two.

I'd take Lukaku. We aren't getting Mata...we signed Downing instead.

I'd even settle for Mata and £15-£20m. He's as good as Micky Ryan, actually better. All dreams though as no doubt Mata wouldn't come here and manure would probably usurp.

I still think he will stay, the club are digging their heels in and interest in him is minimal, maybe it is just the calm before the storm.

Although nobody on here could have predicted it at the time it could be said that in hindsight picking Downing above Mata may have been a slight error in judgement.

Still. Nobody could have predicted that.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

I'd rather keep the No. 10 position for Coutinho and bring in a quality wide player and another to compete for the CF position.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Exactly. Especially when Dalglish said English players are on a par with the Spanish in terms of technique. You could not even make that up

Unreal. You sure you did not make that up Sarb?

                          Mata.
                          Double figures with goals.
                          Double figures with assists.

Sell Suarez to Chelsea and get Mata in part exchange. Mata could link up with the other Spanish players in the squad and José apparantly wants rid.

The sooner we start redeveloping the stadium and improving our marketing off the pitch, in addition to success on the pitch the better
It matters not a jot who you are... Top players will always be linked with other clubs, leagues etc.

What matters is your ability to to retain and/or replace them should the need arise.
As for success on the pitch it's all about laying out the foundations and then adding that final bit of class/experience when it matters.

Suarez is that bit if class at present and it would be nice to keep him, qualify for Europe and show further progression on the back of what BR has done in his short time here.

If we don't keep him we will have money to invest and will need to trust to BR and his scouting/commercial team to deliver up another player who will do a job for the Team.

That's the only way I could see us doing a deal with them. Unless they offer ridiculous money again of course.
