Not to take owt away from Suarez at all but I think it's easy to forget/ block out just how good Tortoise was when he arrived- he had everything including tracking back. Just hope Carroll takes the inevitable knocks for Suarez cos Tortoise never had anyone to di that fir him and picked up loads of injuries. Suarez does seem made of sterner stuff, but it's inevitable opposition defenders will try foul him out if the game- you could see the start of that last night.

I watched the game from the ground, but amongst Fulham fans. They were purring about him by the end. That final run (the possible handball on the line) even caused applause - even I hadn't expected him to try to beat theman like that.

He's a right box of tricks is Luis. Everything he does is unexpected. Even if you just consider last nights game, there were moments when he could/should have shot but was unselfish and passed.

Then there were also moments where he could/should have layed it off to a team mate but instead took on a ridiculous shot. All that without even going into the ways he wriggles around defenders.

At present I think the only thing he lacks is a bit of composure and presence of mind to become a really TOP player. There will be games where he will only get one or two moments to take a shot on or make the pass, and we'll likely need him to make the right choices then.

I wonder if his shooting and passing was so hot and cold for Ajax??

111 goals in 159 games for Ajax would suggest he made the right decision more often than not over there.

He has wonderful balance, which with his pace makes him a nightmare to stay on.
Last night I loved how he adapted to Hangeland. Fouled and pulled about a couple of times, does he sulk? Does he keep trying the same thing and keep getting fouled? No, he spins on the ****er and leaves him kicking air.

He's the perfect tonic.

Spot on, i dont think he's anything like Owen or Fowler.

He's like a more skillful/nimble and less brutish Tevez.

He has played 11 games, scored four goals and I can think of at least 5 assists.

He's been excellent and has settled better than could be imagined. I just think there is more to come if he can be more clinical/decisive.

he's just different class to anything we've had or even seen in this league for a long time - he's a livewire, he buzzes about the pitch, he takes defenders all over the place he sucks them in and then ****s them over, he does the unexpected everytime - he how can i say this....is uncoventional but in the best way possible - ie, it's like there is a rule book for what strikers do and he's come in and just ignored the rule book and does what the hell he likes and it's ****ing amazing he turns the opposite way to how you'd expect most strikers to turn, he shoots with little back lift when you least expect it, he'll play a first time pass with his left foot when everything, his body shape, the travel of the ball, says hit it with your right, it's just fantastic

Add a fit gerrard and carroll, a new pacy winger, with kuyt and maxi in their form and we've got a formidable attacking unit to choose from (maybe throw in another striker and winger just to be greedy )

I agree with some of what you say. But for a guy that joined us only 3+months ago what he has achieved already and the way he has settled in has been astounding. Not only is he playing well himself he (along with the Dalglish factor) seems to be getting the best out of others around him, namely Maxi and Kuyt.

Where Suarez seems to differ from Torres is that he is a more adaptable footballer. With Torres we needed to set the team up around him, almost to play on the break. With Suarez we can play a more possession based game. I think it would have been interesting to see how Suarez and Torres would have played together, as Suarez's movement would have made space for Fernando. But we seem to be doing well enough without, and Maxi and Dirky have been filling there boots since January.

i didn't want to say it but, the only critiscism which isn't a bad thing...is at times he's a little too erratic with some of his shots, he's got into some great positions and just ****ing swung his foot at it trying to take the net off and blazed it high.

i'm not complaining tho, it's great he's getting in the positions to shoot and the fact he's confident enough to go for it and if he blazes one he doesn't care he's confident enough to go for it again

but that'll come - i think it's just a case of trying a little to hard to rip the net and score a screamer

But that only tells like half the story, he is so involved in all of our attacking play and he get's penalties and free kicks in dangerous positions as well. I swear I saw Hangeland shedding a tear after being turned inside out for the 13th time yesterday, and absoulute pest to play against.
