Still can't believe people argued that we should sell him.

          Terrible finisher, isn't he?

I still think that he can do better in the league. That was a training match.
            Are we winning?

I'm with Nige here I don't think many people thought he was universally terrible just that in the PL (or in our team) he was shockingly wasteful.

But people were saying that he couldn't finish, ignoring his phenominal record in Holland and at International level.

I don't think last year was a fair reflection on his ability as a footballer. His form clearly dipped after the whole Evra affair and even before that he'd barely had a rest due to international commitments. I think he'll score goals for fun next year.

Of course he can do better in the league and I'm confident he will. It doesn't matter that that was a training match, he's scored important goals in big matches too. He still scored more than everyone else on the pitch bar the best player in the world who were also playing in a training match.

I'm not sure many people were taking hat strong position. I think people were thinking more along the lines of Morientes - great in other environments but poor at finishing in the PL.

I'm not completely sure about Suarez 'scoring for fun' but with less mitigating factors I can see him doing better.

Not really the same though, Suarez was voted player of the moth nearly every month in his first season, proved he can cut it in the PL and had been desperately unlucky with so manyposts and near misses. I also think some of the people criticising him were comparing him to the worlds best just months before, which made it even more laughable.

Don't get me wrong, some people had valid concerns about his finishing and form and made some fair points but some of the posts on the subject were ridiculous.

While its harsh on the players I'm actually relieved that Uruguay didn't make it to the Euros as it would have meant 3 summers in a row without rest for Luis.

He was a phenom last season but I think he'll be even better this coming season. Anyone who suggests selling him is clearly a right thicko.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

There are always ridiculous posts about everything though. I'm pretty certain you can find hundreds claiming Cristiano Ronaldo is ****. I'm not sure people had quite such daft opinions on Suarez.

I'll agree that some people went overboard in their criticism but I think some of the praise was also exaggerated. He's been aesthetically excellent but comparatively unproductive for us.
