He's an Espanyol fan but his English team is LFC - he lived here for 6-7 years. Went to Uni here and stayed on in places like Aigburth and Wavertree.

Look at our situation back then. If Suarez would have left then FSG would have been in a very bad situation. The star player leaving would have sent out a lot of wrong signals and it would have been almost impossible to replace him.
I'm confused. He was awarded with a new deal last summer when he had 3 years left on his current deal. Why would we need to "force" him to stay and accept a 40m buy-out clause when we could have "foreced" him anyway on his existing deal

I know he supports Espanyol, but in England I thought he followed Liverpool.

Re: @GuillemBalague & Suarez. Said before I didn’t think he’d be at #lfc in 13-14, but again: buyout clauses have no legal standing in UK.

The release clause means that 40m (if that is the release amount) Is the minimum we will recieve. Had Suarez not signed a contract then he could have run his contract down. And I doubt Suarez would have signed a deal if there wasn't a release clause.

We bought Allen for 15m because of a buyout clause.

Probably because he would only have had two years left on the deal this summer and if he wouldn't accept a new deal if we offered him one now then we would be forced to sell him for much less.

Ballague's English team is Liverpool but, moreover, he is a freelance journalist relying on sensationalism and notoriety to sell copy. The more hits he gets, the more work he gets, and if he can mobilise the online Liverpool diaspora, he's guaranteed hits. I wouldn't worry too much about what he says.

All I can say is the Torres exit has well and truly braced me for the Suarez exit. Once bitten (no pun intended).

No one could know that he would have a fantastic season. 40m or something like that was probably the market value when he signed the new deal.

Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

We don't, we buy a quality central midfielder and winger.

Anyway, Chris Bascombe has said he's checked with sources at LFC and there is no clause in his contract
