Not convinced that di Maria would be anything other than a prima donna flop in England and Modric is too far towards his late 20's and inhabits a position we might actually be alright for.

I like Modric and the fact that he already played in PL and played with a great deal of success is something that I'd look at very carefully.

He is what Allen is not and imo would be very nice piece to improve our midfield as he brings fluidity and creativity which we are in short supply.

Di Maria, regardless of the fact he is/was very inconsistent at Real, has the pace and trickery that I think would make him very effective in PL and I personally would take a chance on him.

Each case should be judged on its merits really. Luis is an exceptional case due to his history over the last 2 years. If his stance is loyalty bonus related, quite frankly he's taking the piss.

If Carroll refuses to go due to wanting a loyalty bonus then I'd probably have a bit more sympathy towards him as it's the club wanting him out

Seriously though, what ****ing planet do these guys live on? Stirring up acrimony with the club and all but begging to be released from a hell that was a heaven 12 months ago when improved terms were signed.
