I agree. For £50m he can go anywhere.

And in England that means only Man City or Chelsea, neither of which we're really competing against, so it wouldn't strengthen any of our main rivals anyway.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Would be truly fantastic if Anzhi came in with a £40m+ bid. I would take it ASAP.

I think Suarez has reached the conclusion that we're not improving quickly enough, I suppose if we had been challenging for a CL spot last season then there would be more cause for optimism for the next season. It must be frustrating for a top footballer to be surrounded by mediocrity and aside from his occasional lunacy nobody could doubt Suarez's commitment on the field of play. He probably deserves a move to a club in a stronger position, we just need to bring in some quality replacements. Hopefully we'll be more selective with our transfers this summer.

I wouldn't (assuming it wasn't paid to me personally).

I thought we'd be in this position next year, we finished the season in some good form and I really think that we COULD have a chance of getting 4th this year but that would take as little disruption to the squad as possible, just strengthening. So much for that.

Man City and Chelsea could easily afford to buy him and are probably the only clubs who could afford his wages. I said a few months ago that I could see him going to Man City and if RM and Barcelona don't make a substantial offer then a move to Man City would make some sense. I seriously doubt Arsenal could afford £50m+ and the massive wages Suarez would expect too.

Yep. Least we deserve from him is one more season. Just don't agree with people who say he deserves better etc, deserves to play in a top class team or whatever. Don't really get it. If he'd kept his nose clean since he'd been here, I'd totally agree. But he's let us down badly a number of times and been supported hugely.

Would love someone like Anzhi to come in and bid some stupid amount like £60m and flog him to that random league and he can have fun over there

It seems that he's going anyway though. If he is leaving then he will want to move to a club in a stronger position than ourselves, he'll expect a wage increase and we just need to get over it and move on.

Another season battling for 6th unless we can pull in a couple of genuine top quality players.

I still think we can come out of this ok.

We were already looking at making 2 more first team signings this summer, another defender (profile depending on Skrtel/Coates offers I suppose), and another attacking mid. Suarez goes and we get ~£45m, then I guess we need another striker to replace him, but as long as we get that right (spending what, ~£25m) our hand will only be strengthened financially where the other 2 targets are concerned.

New player - Sturridge - Aspas - Borini

That could be significantly stronger (if the new player is good) than what we started last season with

                                Suarez - Borini - Morgan - Yessil

Meanwhile our ~£20m to spend on the other two has become ~£40m.
