Yeah that sounds plausible I guess - though the quote from Sarb from Aunt Celeste saying that he's just looking for a CL club makes Suarez' actions seem absurd. Why sign for a CL who won't actually win it?

Although I am beginning to wonder if all this Arsenal-Higuain-Madrid-Suarez bollocks is just posturing and Higuain will end up at Arsenal (bit of a come down from Madrid) and Suarez at Madrid.

As for him saying that our signings aren't good enough - he should just go and do one. Muppet.

I definately think we'll take the Higuain plaus money. Higuain plus 15m should be enough.

Transfer news: Arsenal encouraged as Luis Suarez remains open to staying in England
        Last Updated: July 15, 2013 2:56pm

Luis Suarez: Has previously blamed press intrusion for his desire to leave Liverpool

Arsenal target Luis Suarez is open to the possibility of staying in the Premier League, according to Sky sources.

Suarez has consistently blamed intrusion from the English media for his wish to leave Liverpool this summer, and Real Madrid remain favourites for his signature with Sky Bet.

Arsenal have already had one offer for the striker rebuffed but, amid reports a new bid is being prepared, Sky sources understand he has not ruled out joining an English club in the Champions League.

The healthy relationship between the two clubs' boards is of further encouragement to the Londoners and, when asked whether there was a genuine possibility Suarez might start next season at Arsenal, a source close to the negotiations said: "Maybe."

Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, would not be drawn on specific targets as he arrived in Vietnam for the latest leg of his side's pre-season tour.

Wenger said: "You want me to announce a spectacular signing, but I can't. We are working behind the scenes to strengthen the squad - but I can't give you names."

Wenger will send out a team to face Vietnam in Hanoi on Wednesday on the back of a 7-0 victory over an Indonesia Dream Team at the weekend.

The Frenchman has been also been linked with moves for Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, and he last week described those two players - and Suarez - as "realistic targets, quality-wise."

Higuain is a better deal as I think we'll get taken to the cleaners if potential sellers know we have 40+ mil burning a hole in our pocket.

I like Higuain, I'd just question where he'd fit in the team especially when Sturridge can only really play the advanced central position. We'd have two very good but positionally limited attacking players to try and accommodate.

Plus I don't think Higuain would fancy coming tbh.

I don't think Higuain would come here. No CL & (probably?) a lower salary & higher tax.
I'd get Suarez's replacement in now. If not, play hardball with anyone who tries to have us off when we've banked £50m from Suarez.

i'd defo take that - it keeps suarez away from immediate rivals whilst immediately replacing him with a good striker - preventing Higuain going to other teams in the prem.

use the cash to go towards bringing in another midfielder

maybe....but maybe he feels it's what he needs...

he has struggled to nail down a place in Real Madrid's starting XI

he has seen what playing for Liverpool and doing well can do to a players career - Both Torres and Suarez have gone from looking like potential class, to superstars here...Plus both could be said for Mascherano (his argie team mate) and alonso (real madrid team mate)

Higuain might feel for football reasons, that this would be a good move - play regularly in the premier for a 'world recognised and respected' team. Lets be honest, whilst we wont be paying £250k a week , he'll still be on enough to survive -

so he might be thinking, sign for liverpool, play every week, score 25 goals for the next season or two and show the world i am good enough...............

and then I'll sign for a big club once i've enhanced my reputation

Eh? Sturridge has played most of his PL football out wide and his versatility was one of the key reasons Rodgers bought him. He's probably much better as a CF but you certainly can't say he's 'limited' to that position.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
