But many players have a fixed release clause. Don't know of many that varies with performance of player. Either the clause states he can go if we recieve a bid of £40m or it says we will inform him if there is a bid of £40m. The latter we could probably argue wouldn't force us to sell at that price.
Bearing in mind agents were involved in contract signing, you'd expect it's a £40m release clause and we've messed up. But no guarantee on that though.
You would hope if he does decide he wants to move though that he has the decency to not cause a stink and actually leave for a fair value/fee after how the club and fans stood by him. I still expect him to leave though. I think the comments by Ayre were purely to send a message out to Suarez that he will have to request a transfer if he wants to move.Comment
