Personally I think our slide started started well before Moores and possibly before even the Heysel disaster. Heysel & Hillsborough hammered the club when businesswise the model had become a stuck record

Moores tried to pick up the pieces and whilst he wasnt great I dont think he was poor either. Probably just average, very average

Oh and for all Moores inactivity and ineptitude

He underwrote the share issue that enabled us to build the Centennary Stand (virtually paying it in full approx £17 million I think)

He sold 10% of the club to Granada and ploughed the proceeds (£30-odd million if I remember rightly) back into the playing squad

All fair points Lec, but don't you think Parry was disappointing bearing in mind the success he had with setting up the PL?

I think this is the problem with our club

Expectation is enormous and imo Moores and Parry are at times judged far too harshly

They werent poor or disasterous, but they werent great either

They were middle of the roaders - or average

I think with Parry you have to remember he joined the club as PBR's understudy and was really powerless to to do anything until PBR retired. I dont think PBR actually retired till 2001 and Parry joined the club in 1998, he left the club almost 10 years later

There is a book that has a chapter in it dedicated to the businessside of the club from the early days through John Smith, PBR through to Rick Parry

Some of it is quite enlightening and to be honest its quite critical of the board - think its called "Passing Rhythms". Is quite an old book think it was published in 2002/2003 or something like that

Reports in Spain claim Real Madrid will finally bid for Luis Suarez. Heard that one before!

Suarez has been strongly linked with big-money moves to Arsenal and Real Madrid, and Gerrard says all Liverpool can do is "show him the love" in an effort to convince him to stay.

He's got his own decisions to make in life and we'll have to wait and see what he decides to do.
              Steven Gerrard on Luis Suarez
"He's a good friend of mine, I've enjoyed every minute of playing with him, we love him to bits and of course we all want him to stay at the football club," Gerrard said.

"But we also have to show him respect. He's got his own decisions to make in life and we'll have to wait and see what he decides to do.

"All we can do is show him the love, keep making sure he feels very welcome and hopefully that's enough to persuade him to stay, because I think outside of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, there's no better footballer on the planet."

                    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
