Can I just be clear that I meant Arsenal's legal team would be looking at the situation rather than his actual contract.

What can their legal team look if they don't have the critical element in all this, i.e. the contact? I am sure Suarez or his agent have made that available to them.

That Monkey Sponge is saying they can now look at his contract as LFC confirmed the bid and rejected it, but there is confusion on the clause. He thinks it's going to go legal because Arsenal have no intention of raising their £40,000,001 offer.

So much for £45m plus Gervinho

          Gervinho.

As if the £40,000,001 was insulting enough, they come back and offer even less.

I suspect we could drag out any legalities out beyond the end of the transfer window if needs be.

How long does it take to read the section that contains the clause?

I'm not sure, it's possible the courts could move quickly since delaying tactics clearly favour one party here and that would be seen to undermine the neutrality of the legal process itself.
                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Maybe, but if it has legs then there would likely be some kind of arbitration first. And at least one appeal opportunity. There's only so quickly things can move while still allowed sufficient time for each side to formulate their case.

In other words, Arsenal's legal team are reading Twitter like the rest of us.

Sell Suarez now and line up a big-name replacement, legend Barnes tells Liverpool
                          By John Drayton

Liverpool should sell Luis Suarez 'sooner rather than later' to give themselves time to find a suitable big-name replacement, according to Anfield legend John Barnes.
The Uruguayan has not hidden his desire to leave the club this summer, with Arsenal and Real Madrid leading the chase for his signature.
Arsenal tested Liverpool's resolve last week with a bid of £40million plus £1, which triggered a clause in the striker's contract whereby he has to be notified of the interest.

Waving goodbye? Luis Suarez is on the verge of leaving Anfield, with Arsenal or Real Madrid the likely destination, and Liverpool legend John Barnes (below left) believes the move should be pushed through quickly

And Barnes, who played for Liverpool between 1987 and 1997, believes a deal to sell the 26-year-old should be completed as soon as possible.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: 'We've seen in the past when transfers go down to the last minute that it doesn't help anybody, especially for a club like Liverpool who, if they lose Suarez, would have to find a big name replacement.

'I'd like it to be done sooner rather than later because if it goes down to the last day, and you then have to go and get somebody, it's not ideal.

'As far as Suarez is concerned, if he's not going to be happy, then he has to go.
'We can all say, "Yes, we think Suarez is going to be a player like Carlos Tevez, who gives 100 per cent no matter what" but we don't know what his mental state is going to be if he doesn't get his wish (to leave Liverpool).'

                          Suarez and his percentages again!

I agree with JB, just as long as we get a bid of around £50m from a foreign club though!!

Kind of agree and disagree. Before he's sold a replacement already needs to be lined up for me.
