He would probably use that excuse. He had 95000 odd fans in Oz cheering every touch, great reception in Thailand then on weekend. He has has great support off the fans. It is an open training session. Acknowledge the fans who pay your wage. Simple and no excuses really. At the end of the day he may end up staying so he should look to keep things on good terms

People who don't usually talk out of their arse like Bascombe have said he wasn't, so that one seems likely.

Honestly though, I find it all a bit unfortunate that anything to do with Gerrard's testimonial was overshadowed by the Suarez thing, as has been said above perhaps he decided / agreed to stay away so as not to divert more attention from the purpose of the event. Besides, Stevie G has had tons and tons of teammates over his career at Anfield, Luis has really not even been a major part of that (they can't have played more than about 50 games together you'd think), not sure Luis' attendance (or not) would be a particularly relevant or important thing.

Fair dues then. Like you said its a shame it has to overshadow the event but hopefully everything's ok between the 2 of them& Luis is back on the field giving us his all soon.

Well, I think the club have told him not to talk to any journalists, fans etc.

If he the fans then a lot of fans would say that it is a goodbye so what is the point doing it.

In his situation the fans isn't only a good thing. Keep quite and keep a low profile is what is best now.
