Because one club have offered £40m for him and we've rejected their offer. He's now on the market for £40m+ and being one of the best footballers around there will be interest in purchasing him.

The clause will help us here, oddly - it's a point of reference we can use in negotiations. But it's also pretty much his ceiling; getting any more than that, unless it's an English club, doesn't strike me as particularly likely now that he's gone public.

Since it's increasingly looking like if he stays he'll be a fractious or maybe even harmful force, I'm more concerned about where he goes than what we get in return for him. Hold fast for £40m but if we can get £35m quickly, then that's good for me, so long as it's a foreign club. Or again, if he's so desperate to leave and get some CL footy, ring up some of the Russian clubs and they'll overpay.

Knowing Real Madrid it would not surprise me. Perfect situation for them, they will know now with this public statement we will want rid if possible. And they know that we really don't want to sell to Arsenal.

Disagree......the thread for the traitor has been a rip-roaring success. Large part of that has been down to his continued crapness.

Suarez is obviously a better player, but he'll balance it out at some point during the season by mounting some player during a match or something like that.

Ugh Arsenal fans on Facebook already posting statuses. Doesn't help that the man in the cubicle across from me at my internship is an Arsenal "fan." Doesn't really follow that closely but literally every time we speak, he only talks about Suarez and Liverpool. Makes me want to avoid conversation with him like the plague.
