If its just a meniscus then he can be playing again in 3 weeks. Scary stuff though for us - especially in his case with such a reliable injury-free history.

Yeah reports that he will be out for up to 6 weeks but surely that would rule him out of the group stages at least.

Total rehabilitation time after Arthroscopic surgery varies from person to person. Suárez' surgery is scheduled to be at 7:30am in Uruguay.

Scary aspect for us is if he rushes back and the knee hasn't fully recovered - follow up surgery will almost certainly knock him for a longer period. Weird thing apparently with meniscus injuries is that you don't really feel that bad. Suddenly you have a scan and then its off to the surgery room.

I know it's the world cup but I usually dread when our players go out there. It's a ridiculous time of the year to be playing football. They should be resting.

Club bias aside, not having him or Costa at the world cup (I'm sure there was someone else high-profile out through injury too?) would be a massive shame.

Gutted for Luis if he does indeed miss out
