    Define top tier?

We finished 2nd, only side better than us were Man City. Id say that was top tier. Based on what you say we are more akin to Southampton or Newcastle. Good teams that get gutted.

If you are talking financially, then you have a point. But I dont think anyone looks at the status of a club based off the balance sheet.

Id put Bayern, Barca, Madrid above us. But other than that we are fighting on a level playing field. So we are 2nd tier in that respect.

Depends what you base that on I guess. Not based on success over the last ~5 years no, but as of right now we are officially the second best team in the Premier League, which is in the top three leagues in Europe.

Personally, right now, based on that second place finish, history, fan base etc then I'd say we are very much a top-tier team.

But then I'm not a negative so and so

Of course it all comes down to what we define as top tier, but to me thats the likes of Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern, and you can add sides like Chelsea, City and PSG into that mix by default due to the financial aspect. To me its a club that can go out and purchase one of the established top 10 or 20 players on the planet, and I don't think we can.

Edit. Its not a negative from we're I'm sitting, its life.

I don't think you can ask that question of any supporter without getting a slanted reply.

Last season's finish did us the world of good but most third parties would put us behind City and Chelsea certainly and most probably just behind Utd and Arsenal too. Especially if you are looking at us in terms of "draw" for players.

Except for the Arsenal bit. Although it's pretty close. If they weren't in London it wouldn't be I don't think

Agreed about the London bit although they've consistently hit CL over the last decade whilst we haven't. Thing is I think they're on the slide and we're on the up.

So sad, selling our one truly world class player. We won't be able to replace him, we will certainly be weaker next season. His talent is very rare, we were lucky to have him and stupid to sell him.

In a football sense it is. When we are fighting for 4th place again next season and don't have any match winner to turn to then everyone will be on here bitching

definitely a big draw for some players.

We'll see mate, our play would be different without him, no doubt, but I think we can still be successful and get top four.
