Would the players in these positions need to be worth the value stated or is just a case of spunking the possible money from Suarez away

I wish him well and the only time I won't is if he's playing against us. He's been awesome for us as was Torres. I just hope we get someone else of that ilk to keep us entertained and on the edge of our seats.

I didn't say performed, I said scored. Of his 31 goals 5 were against Norwich, 5 against Cardiff, and 2 against Fulham, the three relegated teams. Add on 3 against West Brom, and 2 against West Ham, Stoke, Sunderland and Palace, and that's 23 of 31 goals against teams nowhere near the top of the table (and I didn't even include Spurs in that) and often part of comfortable victories.

I'm not saying that 31 in 33 games isn't phenomenal, but the facts are that a third of those came against just two teams, and none against City, Chelsea or Arsenal (even in the 5-1 win).

You can say the same thing for just about any striker whom has scored a lot of goals. There are plenty who have great ratios by scoring hatricks and braces, but go through long draughts. It's just a natural occurrence, no one can score a goal every week, some have come close, but generally still there will be weeks without scoring and then they'll bag two against a weaker team.

Regardless of distribution of goals, his general play was always causing a handful for the opposition etc. No chance I would complain about him as a player or a goalscorer other than some of those horrific misses in his 2nd season.

In your opinion. In mine Torres had a period of around 18 months where he was the best striker in the world, so clearly reached that elite level. But hey, going to Chelsea is worse than being a bitey racialist, so let's all jump on the revisionist bandwagon and pretend that Torres was actually not that good.

We'll be struggling to cope without Luis. Hope Rodgers has a plan, but in all honesty, I think he'll have to think on his feet on that.

He was always concerned about moving to the next level. He moved to Groningen and then created a big fuss to get his move to Ajax. He did the same last year and I think would have done the same this summer if his move to Barcelona isn't going along well.

I don't think he has any deep attachment to any club or fans. He has viewed each club as a place to improve his career. Given that he grew up in South America, I don't think we can fault him for not having a deep rooted connection to us fans.

But the minute he set foot on the pitch he worked harder, displayed an unbelievable desire to win, more than any other player I have seen. I don't think we can have any complaints. He did not mope around like Torres when he did not get the move he wanted.

We are getting more than three times what we paid for him. If we do not progress as a team when he leaves, it will be because we did not invest the money wisely. Not his fault.

I'd say during those days Villa was the best striker in the world, scoring and creating goals. He played in a more modest team so people didn't take as much notice

Look at Torres' goals for us and see how many were laid on a plate compared to how many he conjured out of nothing.

Torres was superb for those 18 months and whilst he had a peak Gerrard he also scored a lot from his pace and power, he's never the player Suarez is but he was awesome for us in that time

He was unbelievable. Totally different player to Suarez but no less effective. If Suarez is the best player I've seen in my lifetime then, Fowler apart, Torres is the best striker. Never seen a player terrify defenders that much.

We don't need to replace all of Suarez's goals if don't concede as many next year. We don't need to score 100 goals to challenge for the title again.

Yeah think some people forget how good Torres was in his pomp, every single time he touched the ball you wouldn't be surprised if a goal followed. He had pace a bit of trickery and was an awesome finisher.

It's bizzare seeing him now, not even half the player he was.

Torres was an incredible goalscorer. Suarez is just an incredible footballer, full stop. He's easily the best player I've ever seen.
