I dunno about that. Most of the posters in match threads are regular posters.

The probable departure of Suarez is a seismic event, the likes of which we haven't seen since Torres left. Now that did generate a meltdown. The mere mention of Torres even now still triggers a meltdown in some posters greater than anything written in this thread today.

The day he leaves, well, that will trigger a sizeable meltdown. And it'll continue for many years after that.
    Oh I don't know.

Not everyone at Barcelona wants to sign Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, says Graham Hunter [BBC 5 Live]

Spanish based journalist Graham Hunter has spoken to BBC 5 Live to give his thoughts on the current Luis Suarez saga.

Hunter subscribes to the belief that there’s a secret agenda to the Liverpool striker Luis Suarez’s apology for biting Giorgio Chiellini, suggesting it could pave the way for a move to Barcelona.

Interestingly, though, Hunter also stated that ‘there’s not blanket unanimity’ in the Barcelona boardroom over whether the club should buy the forward.

Hunter pointed out that Barcelona have major financial restrictions to contend with, and the club are poised to offload a huge sum of money to pay off debts.

Moreover, the people at Barcelona are also well aware that a major sponsor, 888, have ditched Suarez as a client.

What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

But i'd be beside myself seeing him running around for those dirty gypsy ****s.

The only saving grace would be getting Sanchez, but thats looking unlikely.
I'm not alone then in hating Barca

I'm oddly content about Suarez leaving and I never thought I would be.

Maybe it's because with our manager and all of the attacking talent we still have, I'm confident we'll still see brilliant football and loads of goals next season even without Suarez.

He's under contract to us. We hold all the proverbial cards. Player plus cash won't trigger the release clause. Only a proper cash bid will do that.

So short answer is stump up the readies or get stuffed.
If they want to offer a player as makeweight, make it someone decent or get stuffed.

If we don't get a deal that suits us we'll be forced to hang onto one of the best players in the world, which I'm sure we'll all be really upset about. Surely we can't lose out in this situation.

If the boardroom aren't united, then they won't be bidding £8 or whatever. If they don't bid that of the equivalent including players they won't be getting him. Simple.
              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Didn't realise 888 poker are a Barca sponsor. Interesting timing that they signed him as soon as our season ended. Obviously having to dump him wasn't in the masterplan.

If they bid anything it'd be an improvement on the Madrid bull**** last season who were all mouth and no trousers when it came to bidding.

Any idea on how much the release fee actually is? And is it like the previous one where it just means we negotiate or are we compelled to sell at that price?

Best educated guesses are about 80m

I read one snippet somewhere (can't remember where) that suggested that the release clause ONLY applies if we fail to qualify for the Champions League. But I've not seen that anywhere else, so I doubt it's true.

Bascombe's article guesses at between £60m and £80m.
