He has 3 years left on his contract. If he wants to leave and is so desperate he'll go to wherever we accept a bid from. Someone offers us £60m and Madrid only offer £30m, he isn't going to Madrid. Pure and simple. We owe him nothing, especially with how he is trying to engineer a cut price move

Silence from the club speaks volumes. They must be fuming. Apparently Rodgers isn't even going to answer questions after the friendly on the weekend

We were already looking at making 2 more first team signings this summer, another defender (profile depending on Skrtel/Coates offers I suppose), and another attacking mid. Suarez goes, we get say £45m, then I guess we need another striker to replace him, but as long as we get that right (spending what, ~£25m) our hand will only be strengthened financially where the other 2 targets are concerned.

New player - Sturridge - Aspas - Borini

That could be significantly stronger (if the new player is good) than what we started last season with

      Suarez - Borini - Morgan - Yessil
True, we're certainly starting the season with a better squad, and if we were to add... let's say... Alderweireld and Eriksen, we'd be well stocked. I'm thinking more in terms of the mental disruption, changing our plans, possibly annoying some of the other players in training with this hanging over us, etc...

Best to treat it like a plaster - quick and painless. As soon as he's back to training, he and Guardiola should be in with Rodgers for a chat.

      "Do you want to go?"
      "Yes."
"Well you've got until the first of August, if there's no bids in by then - you aren't leaving until next summer no matter who makes a bid and how much it's for."

Simple. Then it's up to him and his agent.

Can't force him to sign elsewhere.

I agree with you, we need to look after our own interests. I don't think the club will be all that bothered and Rodgers may see this as an opportunity to improve the strength of the first team. If Suarez leaves I can't see him going for less than £45m, if we reinvest that sort of money wisely then the balance of the team can be improved significantly. Suarez is a wonderful player, but we can use this situation to our advantage.

No we can't. I was meaning that if someone bids higher then we don't have to sell him to a lowball fee from Madrid. Either he goes to where we agree a deal with or he quits talking and stays. He is no position to be dictating anything to us

            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

That's true... unless he turns into a full-on ****house and forces his move like he did to get to Ajax. I'd really hope he wouldn't do that so that if he DOES end up staying (either through force or by choice) he's willing to give us 100% like he always has done.

Have to say I never knew that Luis 'engineered' a move from Ajax. I always thought it was all very amicable and IIRC they even invited him back for a farewell send off.

Me too, Picasso is a right footer playing left back!

                      Where's Insua?

Nah, he engineered the move from Gronigen to Ajax, in a pretty **** house way too

Yup, full-on tribunal and he lost it but still got his wish as Ajax upped their bid eventually but that could've got really nasty.

Well, considering everything the club has done for him we must stand firm and only allow a move on our terms. Whichever way you look at it now it does seem there is very little chance for him to stay on now. So sad really. What a let down.

                              How's Ngee as Suarez's replacement?

Also, I thought the club asked Cameltoe to change his name to Camelito, as it was offending people.
                              Are we winning?
