Interesting, as I thought the two poor goals we let Fulham score made them look better than they actually are.

The crazy thing is we could have had him so much sooner. Rafa was in for him before he went to Ajax, and whilst he was at Ajax.

This article explains it better if anyone cares to read:

I know Rafa got some stick for his signings, but he brought in a lot of quality players and missed out on just as many due to limited funds. Another that sprung to mind recently for me was Falcao of Porto, someone we chased as back up to Torres when Crouch left. We couldn't afford him though and he moved to Porto.

Anyone think we should have a whip round and send Ajax a bunch if flowers or summat? Might ease the guilt.

We bought Babel of them, hence they gave us a guilty discount on Suarez

I will repeat what I said when we first signed him. By the end of this season we will be talking about him as our best player. By the end of next season we will be talking about him as the best player in the league.

Oozes class. Brilliant technique. Great finished. Great creator. Works like Kuyt. And cannot be kicked out of the game because he is a hard, mental fecker. A sheer joy to watch and our best signing in a decade.

Just as long as his signing turns into as big a 'disaster' as the re-appointment of Kenny, i'll be chuffed.

Liverpool FC: Jay Spearing just can’t get enough of Luis Suarez

JAY SPEARING admits he’s loving watching the “mayhem” caused by Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan frontman continued the stunning start to his Reds career with a mesmerising performance in Monday night’s 5-2 hammering of Fulham.

Suarez tormented the Cottagers’ defence throughout and coolly slotted home his fourth goal in 11 appearances.

However, it’s the all-round game of the £22.8million signing from Ajax which has caught midfielder Spearing’s eye.

“Not only is he scoring goals but he is creating them as well,” Spearing said.

“We see what he can do every day in training and he’s a pain to come up against.

“ He takes that on to the pitch and causes mayhem for defenders.

“He’s done that from the moment he came in.

“Luis has shown what he’s all about with the work ethic he puts in for the team and it’s great to see.

“It’s not about himself, he loves to set up other players. If he keeps doing that for the rest of this season and into next season we’ll be looking good. His partnership with Andy Carroll is going to be very dangerous.”

Monday’s emphatic victory means Liverpool have scored a remarkable 13 goals in their last three games. Spearing celebrated his recent new contract in style at Craven Cottage as he continued his own rich vein of form alongside Lucas Leiva.

The Academy graduate says a determination to stay in a buoyant side is spurring all the players on to greater heights.

“The boss has put his trust in me and hopefully I’m paying him back,” he added.

“Everyone is fighting for places. It’s been like that in training with everyone giving their all and at Fulham we showed again what we are all about.

“The manager talked to us before the game about starting quickly and trying to put them under pressure.

“After the first goal we just wanted to get more and more, and we managed to keep the tempo going.

“The whole team is a solid unit now.

“That’s shown in the way we work when we haven’t got the ball.

“We’re improving and playing good football.”

Spearing is now relishing the prospect of Sunday’s final home match of the season against Tottenham.

Maximum points would wrap up fifth place and Europa League qualification with a game to spare.

“We want to finish as high as we can in the league and Sunday is a massive game,” Spearing said.

“Europa League is still a massive competition and we want to be in it.

“Liverpool need to be trying to win as much silverware as possible.

“Sunday will be difficult because on their day Spurs can turn it on and they’ve got some great players. But we are at home and, if we start like we did on Monday night, will put them under pressure.”
