And Gerrard should be fit to start should he not, although maybe not exactly match fit?
We still have almost 4 weeks left to start of the season and even though he may be fit (as far I'm aware he's currently only doing light cardio/running drills), I'm not so sure that Kenny will risk him unless he is match ready.
I personally think we will not feature Stevie nor Suarez (Lucas probably) in the game against Sunderland and imo Hendo and Kuyt will likely be the replacements.
Would love to see Aquilani but I doubt that will happen.Last edited by Mostar; 19-07-11, 12:21 AM.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

If Aquilani does a good job against Hull then that'll be three in a row. Should make him an automatic starter without Suarez and Gerrard.
Lucas Adam
Kuyt Aquaman Downing
Carroll
Should be enough, hopefully Carroll's cobwebs will be gone by then and we'll sneak it past Sunderland. One tit for another.

FFS mods, do something about this.
It's far more annoying than "smokescreen".
3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I think Stevie will be in there in place of Aqualani, otherwise, yeah, that will be the team I'd guess...Originally posted by BigChief View PostIf Aquilani does a good job against Hull then that'll be three in a row. Should make him an automatic starter without Suarez and Gerrard.

You see, I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. Then I realised that the club are still hoping to get him some pre-season match time. If he is back on schedule and he does get some pre-season time then surely it makes more sense to let him continue his rehabilitation at home to Sunderland rather than throw him in at the deep end against Arsenal. You would think at 50% Gerrard would still be too good for Sunderland and would hopefully have him that bit fitter for Arsenal.Originally posted by Mostar View PostWe still have almost 4 weeks left to start of the season and even though he may be fit (as far I'm aware he's currently only doing light cardio/running drills), I'm not so sure that Kenny will risk him unless he is match ready.

I just don't think Kenny will take chance on Stevie unless he's 100% ready. We tried that at the end of the last season when he came back from the injury too soon and we all know how that turned out.Originally posted by RedReet View PostYou see, I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. We need him too much to risk him, have him re-aggravate the injury and lose him once again for who knows how long.
We have plenty of options in the midfield and we should have no difficulty winning against Sunderland at home and at least compete and match Arsenal away.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

I’m assuming that if he appears in pre-season then he’s physically fit. How else can we get him match fit without games?Originally posted by Mostar View PostI just don't think Kenny will take chance on Stevie unless he's 100% ready. Fair point.Originally posted by RedReet View PostI’m assuming that if he appears in pre-season then he’s physically fit. How else can we get him match fit without games?
Not sure that he'll recover quickly enough to be seriously involved in the pre-season at level needed to be considered for the season opener.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
