That's fair enough, but suggesting it will be in the next year or two when he isn't even half way through his contract isn't being very optimistic or hopeful.

It isn't very optimistic but I'd rather the club at least considered selling while he's still deep in his contract than let him go towards the end of it for a song. FWIW, I don't think Luis is that sort of player, going solely on how he conducted himself during his Ajax exit which was extraordinarily classy, he'll want to make sure the club gets a fair price for him.

I also think it's paramount that we re-negociate his contract as soon as possible with a decent increase in wages and another year on the end of it, he deserves it having proved his value.

I dont think anyone is being defeatist or suggesting we sell our best players, it's just hugely likely that a Spanish speaking South American who's constantly said for years how he wants to play in Spain will probably want to get his wish at some point.

I think he needs at least a good 4 weeks break. We've seen before how overplaying can have long lasting effects on players, Torres being one example. Suarez is the type of player who gives his all as well.

I agree. I'm worried about the toll that constant competition will have on Suarez. In the last two seasons he's had the World Cup, Copa America and if Uruguay qualify for the Euros next summer that means he'll have had 3 seasons without a real break. At some point burn out must be considered a real concern.

yes, plus 3-4 weeks at the end of season prior to the Copa, plus three weeks now.
