Firstly, this isn't Football Manager, you can't just phone up and buy a player in 5 minutes there are so many potential mine fields and issues that need to be dealt with and I think they moved pretty quickly.

Not sacking Roy sooner might be a fault but they needed to know it was the right decision, they were new to the sport and finding their feet. Bowing to fan requests would have made them knee jerk reactionaries.

Neither of these were genuine mistakes and he chose to jump well before they could show their hand.

Yeah but the damage was well and truly done and honestly thing we wanted shot of him as much as he wanted to leave, in hindsight its been the deal of the century. I really think we made him what he was, the fans, Rafa, Gerrard ... he thrived off it .. when that started to die down he was a different player .. he just looks like now he cant be ****ed ... We are in excellent shape now and we are only going to get stronger .. Regardless of champions LG football or not .. We are on the top 5 clubs in the World, in Asia ehhh cough I am told we are huge in many places the No.1 CLub ... Tom and Co will leverage of that massively in the coming years .. I am pretty bullish going forward .. also next weekend .. we beat Chelsea and Newcastle lose to City and Spurs lose to Villa away ... all very possible results .. I think we are 4th or at the very least level ...

I think he was on the way out. I've said it before, and I'm not going to say it as a told you so, but Rafa spotted something in him that no other commentator did at the time we bought him, and it's no suprise that his downfall very much coincides with his. Raf bought him as he knew how he wanted to play him.

That said, I would have seriously loved to have seen both Torres up front with Suarez....
