The guy is surrounded by mediocre players. Yes he is a bit greedy at times and tries to do everything himself a bit too often, but he is an outstanding footballer that gives 110% in every game. He shows passion and commitment that you could only wish every other LFC player had!!
We need to build a team around this guy, if he stays next season we'd seriously want to get rid of some of the pretenders we have and get in some quality. IMO it's a no brainer that if Suarez has better players around him he will flourish. Less burden, less work rate and less responsibility to make things happen. The fact of the matter is if other players actually bothered to pull their weight he wouldn't have to do as much as he has done.
One of the big problems we have at the moment is that so many players are unwilling to take responsibility. They sit back play the easy simple game and wait for someone else to make things happen. And when most of you're team is doing this **** all happens! Suarez has his faults for sure but he doesn't hide and he is a match winner.
We are lucky to have him & to be honest i'll be very grateful if he actually stays with us in the summer.Last edited by danperkins; 23-04-12, 12:08 PM.

I love Luis but though I agree that he'll be able to raise his game more, if he is surrounded by better players, I do think he needs to trust his teammates more as well.
Yesterday, He did one of his brilliant slalom runs on the left and then took a shot from a very difficult angle with low probability of scoring when he had wide open Carroll ready for the tap in.
If he would do that that would make him even better player and bigger threat then what he is atm.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

I think it's just something we'll have to live with; Luis is one of those players that seems to not be bothered by previous misses and is always willing to take responsibility and have a go, no matter how optimistic. I don't think he consciously thinks to himself: "I'm not passing to him cos he'll **** it up", I just think he is eager, somethimes over eager, to do well.Originally posted by Mostar View Post

No way we should be thinking of selliing him though - he should be way, way, way down on the list of people to move on.

If we decide to bring in a proper goal scorer, what will happen to Carroll? We can possibly move Kuyt on, Bellamy plays every other game due to his knees and accepts it, no out and out goal scorer of the class we need will accept sitting on the bench every other game.Originally posted by danperkins View PostThe guy is surrounded by mediocre players. Therefore we either sell Suarez and probably make a profit of about £10m (add say £20m and that will give us a kitty of £50m to buy a couple of class players), or sell Carroll and lose about £20m, meaning a single goal scoring striker will cost us in the region of £45m.
I know he's probably the best footballer we have, but imo he's a luxury player because of his low conversion rate.

That would make our entire team luxury players then, selling your best and only creative flair player is not the way to success. You are looking at this from a selling club perspective, we are not owned by H&G anymore, we should not be selling our best players because we have a squad full of average players.Originally posted by Suarez View PostIf we decide to bring in a proper goal scorer, what will happen to Carroll? And advocating keeping a significantly inferior player because we won't get as much money for his crazy.

We're not owned by a Sheik or an Oligarch, and I'm not convinced that FSG are going to throw money around at all.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostThat would make our entire team luxury players then, selling your best and only creative flair player is not the way to success. We're in a difficult situation, miles off champions league football and a bunch of forwards who've scored less goals than almost every Liverpool team in history. Difficult decisions need to be made.

We are also a very well off team and FSG are not poor and shy of investing.Originally posted by Suarez View PostWe're not owned by a Sheik or an Oligarch, and I'm not convinced that FSG are going to throw money around at all.

So you think removing not only our top scorer, but also our best player and our best player is the way forward rather than getting rid of an inferior player who scores even less and makes far less contribution to our play on the whole?
Well I'm sure that approach will do wonders for getting us back in the CL.

I'm saying we could sell Suarez and purchase 2 top forwards who bang goals in. That would take us further than one flair player with little end product.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostWe are also a very well off team and FSG are not poor and shy of investing.

Its not as insane as you are trying to make out...
I also think people have been far too quick to believe in FSG, maybe I'm once bitten twice shy, but I need a lot more convincing that they're going to invest heavily in Liverpool.

I disagree, you are relying on them to score and make goals because as a team we are not creative, you could easily bring in two flops too.Originally posted by Suarez View PostI'm saying we could sell Suarez and purchase 2 top forwards who bang goals in. I've seen FSG with the Red Sox and their NASCAR team, they are not like H&G.

im going to stick my neck out and say there is no chance we will be buying any one player who will cost that sort of moneyOriginally posted by Suarez View Post... meaning a single goal scoring striker will cost us in the region of £45m.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

We seem to create enough chances, we just can't convert them and two prolific strikers would more than likely continue to be prolific rather than be flops (if their form over a few seasons backs it up).Originally posted by Mattshark View PostI disagree, you are relying on them to score and make goals because as a team we are not creative, you could easily bring in two flops too.

I've seen little from FSG yet to convince me that they're prepared to invest heavily in the club, I also think that they underestimated how much it would cost to get a Premier League team to the top of the table, but I'm not sure how it compares to either Baseball or Nascar.

Well they invested plenty in the summer.

what I mean is, if we had to make way for a new striker by selling Carroll, we'd probably lose somewhere in the region of £20m (getting say £15m for him) so purchasing another striker for £25m would've really cost of £45m.Originally posted by baitman View Postim going to stick my neck out and say there is no chance we will be buying any one player who will cost that sort of money
