Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

        Wonder what sanctions normally apply?

3 or 4 game ban perhaps?

Or factoring in it's Suarez, 30 or 40 game ban perhaps?

I'd merge all of everything if I could.

          I think 8 game ban.

The FA’s contention that the standard punishment of three matches that would otherwise apply is clearly insufficient in these circumstances.

                Probably double figures.
8 sounds like a punishment they would hand out to someone they really, really want to nail, and that certainly sounds like the FA and Suarez.
But a mitigated punishment could be acceptable, considering Luis' quick apology, club's fine, Ivanovic's accepting of apology......................and if there is a genuine acceptance by media influences on the FA that he'd didn't murder someone on the pitch.
Not likely, but there's always a reversal of the immediate hysteria with outlandish incidents.

Double figures is reserved for completely over the top assaults, such as Pepe against Getafe.
Who, BTW, is still at that club. Just saying like.

Di Canio got 11 for pushing Paul Alcock.

What did Barton get for his challenge on Aguero ?

Sorry, couldn't be bothered to read the last 10 pages I'd missed since last night.

So by the sound of it they haven't in any way pre-judged the outcome, or for that matter taken any notice of the precedent (of sorts) set by Defoe's yellow card for the same offence.
