I think you need to work on the name.
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I've never entirely warmed to him (as per my earlier comments about his behaviour in this thread). We've had one great season from him, but his behaviour is a liability and has seriously damaged the reputation of the club. There's no doubt that he is a world class talent, but I don't really buy this "he only bites people, punches people, makes potentially racist comments, moans about everything, and throws himself on the floor at the slightest contact because he cares so much". It's far too much like parents who defend their child's appalling behaviour by claiming that it's because he / she is just so clever that they need to express themselves.

If he does leave and we spend the money sensibly, I think we can come out of this with an improved team, and a better chance of getting back into the top four. After all, we keep finishing behind Everton, and I don't think that they have better individual players than us in most positions. They're just a better team unit, and I think that Brendan can develop that here, but with some proper flair players thrown in (ones that don't get banned regularly).

Edit: And before any smartarse points out that I have a Suarez avatar, it's because I thought what he did on that occasion was funny, not because he's my hero. And not because I think that his diving is acceptable. Does that cover all the bases?

That sounds spot on Leyton mate but, i'm convinced he doesn't give a f*ck and more annoyingly is the club, fans manager etc, have stuck behind him even though he's f*cked up many times he's prepared to turn his back on our great club because of the british press given him stick for what he's done yet whatever club or country he go's to next? whats to say their press won't give him exactly the same treatment when he f*cks up again which, im almost sure he will.

I don't think he's said or done a great deal wrong. I'm gonna be pretty disheartened if he winds up being a hate figure with the fans, like Torres.

One of the elite players in the world - who 100% deserves to be playing at the highest level, something we can't provide - is wanted by one of the top two clubs in the world and he wants to go there. It's not new.

We seem to make up these arbitrary boundaries for players who've left, with randomly different criterion for each one. Making it up as we go along ffs. Alonso is mainly a hero, Mascherano's a cunt, Torres is a cunt. Surely Suarez ain't gonna be seen as a cunt too? They all did (or Suarez is about to do) essentially the same thing. We're becoming a right bunch of quilts. There was a time when I could count on one or two fingers the number of ex players who'd get booed coming back to Anfield. The list now seems to get longer every year.

With every world class Spanish or South American there's always the risk they'll want to go to Barca or Real at some point. It was obvious this is how it would end for Suarez at LFC when I saw just how good he was. I hope he stays but if he goes we ought to get huge wedge for him and off he'll go. I'll always love him as a footballer. Amazing player....been thrilling watching him play for us.

It's all just a ****ing game. To me it's clear he wants to go because he wants to play for Real Madrid and contend for titles and the CL every year, and this "the media hate me" line - while clearly overblown if you look at that Uruguayan lad's interpretation - is just a cover in the belief it'll make it easier for us to swallow.....rather than saying "LFC are a bit ****e and I'm way better than this so I need to go", which is essentially where I think he's at. Understandably.

I just look at that reception he got off the Ajax fans after leaving them in almost identical circumstances (bigger club come calling after bite incident) - I'd love for us to give him similar receptions if ever we met again. He deserves it. Been a ****ing incredible player for us, a genius and a warrior. A rare treat.

I agree especially about our double standards about ex-players. I understand people will be disappointed if he leaves but all this hatred, it's just the wailing of abandoned ten year olds.

I don't expect that to be a popular view though. Seems every ****er's turned on him already (not specifically on here, everywhere I've looked). Amazing. Let's not be cunts about it.

??? The 2 Ajax fans I know liked him when he played and were quite prepared for him to move away but think when he did he orchestrated his move away and don't like him for that at all.

Fair enough, if they just want to play for you for a while until something better comes along you can feel something, but you can't love them for that surely? What kind of one sided love is that? And, like any split up, it's often the way people are left rather than just the leaving.

I don't like him but for one reason - he made Kenny's last year as manager of LFC a cuntfest. Apart from that I don't have any strong feelings at all apart from being certain he'll do something ridiculous again next year, which is why I'm happy to take the money for him.

To be absolutely clear about this, he will never, ever be looked on as a Liverpool great when he goes this summer. Can't be bothered to hate him, hopefully he'll go off and play great football without the rest of what he brings to the game in the future.

Playing devil's advocate, he played well but didn't help us win anything. He dragged us through a racism scandal, drew near universal scorn for his diving and sneaky misdemeanours, bit someone, made Kenny look like a dick over a sodding handshake, had nothing but backing from all levels of the club and manoeuvres an exit to Madrid the first chance he gets.

The difference between Alonso and Mascherano/Torres/Owen is that the manager wanted rid more than the player wanting out. Suarez would fit more in the latter group really.
