People who live there and see him regularly say so, a Liverpool-based press photographer (David Rawcliffe) said exactly the same. He's even posted pics himself of him cruising around Costco, or in the park with his kid. Not a hint of it. It's a convenient lie, and one quite easily refuted.

Well it depends when those pictures were taken. I've seen some of them and I'm sure they were pre-bite incident or even as far as before the Evra ****storm, IIRC.

Rawcliffe (and others) are probably right FWIW, just being cautious as this is the kind of thing which will get him all kind of abuse via Twitter.

Either way, it doesn't wash because he wants to go to Madrid where the circus is far, far worse than it is over here.

TBF after the biting incident there were lots of 'pap' pictures of him around town with is wife (and kid). But I do think he is making more of it obviously to get the move he wants.

How do you know he's bad mouthed the club? As I said, I'd rather believe a translation from a fellow Uruguayan than from someone who's got a BA in Spanish translation from a UK newspaper.

You've got to understand that he's gone through a lot of **** since he's come here, starting with the Evra incident. Of course he'll vent out his frustrations if asked or pushed in for his opinion in his homeland.

In terms of his association with us maybe but for his own sake, it's about clearing his name if he thinks he's been badly treated.

In any case, makes it all irrelevant if he's lying and engineering a move out as he probably doesn't give a ****.

FWIW, although he's clearly made mistakes and to a large extent made his own bed, I do think he has been badly treated. The ludicrous media reaction to the handball goal at Mansfield is one example of how large sections of the press clearly had it in for him. He's a world class talent who was never properly appreciated and the league will be a lot worse off for his absence.
