They didn't say that at all. I believe from the bbc pages that some rag or other said it would cost Chelsea that much to buy him including his wages of 200k/ week over 5 years.Originally posted by Fierce View PostUnited have said Rooney can be sold for £80 MILLION POUNDS
So that's what, £100m for Luis?I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

i would take mata plus 20. mata was bought for 27m and we rate suarez at 50 and chelsea dont want him anymore so that counts in our favour.Originally posted by Sarb View PostOffer us £10m plus Mata or Luiz for Suarez and I'll drive the goofy cunt down to Stamford Bridge myself
we need to be looking at players like mata if we are to make that step back into the champions league. buy him and build the team around him with coutinho as his understudy.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

I'm not for building a team around any one individual or two. You just cant rely on players to stick around. Last season our whole team was geared upto Suarez's strengths. When they leave it drops you in it.Originally posted by el matador View Posti would take mata plus 20. mata was bought for 27m and we rate suarez at 50 and chelsea dont want him anymore so that counts in our favour.

Rather buy quality players throughout and a build a team ethos that does not rely on one star to win games for us

the italian league is rubbish. half empty stadiums, no atmosphere. why would any half decent player want to go there.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostNapoli need a striker. Least there are less people to spot him biting, diving or racially abusing someone. It won't really matter much in that league. Probably just give him a paltry fine. He'd fit right inOriginally posted by el matador View Postthe italian league is rubbish. half empty stadiums, no atmosphere. why would any half decent player want to go there.

thats fair enough and i see your point.Originally posted by Sarb View PostI'm not for building a team around any one individual or two. You just cant rely on players to stick around. Last season our whole team was geared upto Suarez's strengths. When they leave it drops you in it.

in effect every team is essentially built to get the best out of its star players as we currently are with gerrard (hendo has to play to help stevie). You are relying on a core of 3/4 players to help win each game so its normal that the team success depends on certain individuals.
but mata isnt a player who can just be slotted into a wide position, but rather for the patterns of play to work, the aim has to be to get him on the ball in the right areas as often as possible.
also im not sure we have the finance available to have top quality players in every position.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

It's a tough one. By implementing a philosophy though and buying players who can work within that method, I guess you're making it a team thing and hence become less reliant on one or two individuals to do it in a game. Mata is a brilliant player and we should definitely make a move for him. Worst that can be said is no.Originally posted by el matador View Postthats fair enough and i see your point.

But we played to Torres' strength, then to Suarez's. When they move, it sets us back. Set the philosophy, buy the players who can implement it. Think you'll see many different match winners over the season (not just the one). 2nd half of the season showed it coming together, Henderson, Coutinho, Sturridge, Gerrard, Suarez all made impacts

Arsenal have told Atletico Madrid that Santi Cazorla is not for sale after the Spanish club made an ambitious bid to sign the midfielder.
Atletico have money to spend following the £50million departure of Radamel Falcao to Monaco this summer and have made another attempt to sign Cazorla after losing out to Arsenal when he left Malaga last year.
Miguel Angel Gil, the president of Atletico, is believed to be in London to negotiate a deal and reports in Spain suggest the player has agreed terms.
However, Arsenal are adamant that Cazorla, 28, is a key part of their plans and is not available at any price.
Arsenal are hoping Cazorla can help them end their trophy drought and are looking to strengthen the squad, with £70m in transfer funds available.
However, their hopes of signing one of their key targets suffered a blow today, when Napoli confirmed they are in talks with Real Madrid over Gonzalo Higuain.
Napoli are looking to sign a new striker after selling Edinson Cavani to Paris St-Germain for £54m and want Higuain to take his place.
Arsenal thought they were on the verge of completing a £23m deal for the Argentina international earlier this month and had agreed a salary with his representatives.
But Real have since increased the asking price to about £30m, which is why Arsenal have stepped up their efforts to sign Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, who is banned for the first six games of the season.
However, it will take at least £40m to sign Suarez and it is understood the he favours a move to Real Madrid.
If you don't want to pay £30m for Higuain, no point switching your sights to Suarez, as you won't get him for £30m either.

They obviously think Suarez is worth more, although not much moreOriginally posted by Sarb View Posthttp://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foot...a-8713913.html

Arsenal are taking the mick. They're down from £100m warchest to £70m now and have not even signed anyone. They faff around on transfers more than we do. If they fail to sign Higuain, Suarez or Rooney, their fans will be fumingOriginally posted by Pablo1981 View PostThey obviously think Suarez is worth more, although not much more
