Not necessarily. Marketed properly Suarez would go off. Bad boys are much more interesting.

They have no issues marketing Ronaldo and hes an actual proper cunt.

They earned more than €300m on the Beckham deal.

Not because he's a nice boy, because he married a popstar and they fed each others fame.

          Infamy

Kenneth got it spot on, they always sign good players, but just because they spend £85m, doesn't mean they will claw it back with shirt sales and marketing.

Wonder how much they've earned from Kaka these last couple of years.

Bale isn't going to shift the same number of shirts as Ronaldo. No way.

I don't think he has the "look" of a global superstar either.

So £85m is vastly overinflated IMO. He is very, very good but below the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.

The transfer fee would be a part of the marketing. If they signed him for £50m no one would care that much. He would be just another very expensive player signed by Real.

If they signed him for £85m then the whole world would take notice. It would be much easier to market him.

Thats £35m of marketing Arn. Do you know how much advertising that could buy?

I know what you are saying, but the figures you throw around are mental.

Perhaps. I think we naturally big up our own players and dismiss the opposition's. I don't think they're a million miles apart in terms of impact on the league last season.

God love you Arn but you're being bat-**** mental again.

Let's assume Bale costs £85m and signs a five-year £200k-a-week deal, he'll cost Madrid £137m in fee and wages over the life of his contract.

They will not recoup that through Bale shirt sales and using his image for marketing purposes. Not a chance.

They probably make a profit on Kaka every year or else they would have sold him IMO.

If you include the transfer fee and wages then they probably made a big profit so far.

                              I think you're forgetting something.

They could make a absolute fortune on the side loaning him out for ad campaigns for zoos.

And he as his own trade marked celebration.

Well, I think they would recoup that easily. They would make sure that they get 100% of the image rights.
