He's pointed out several times now that the way we set up the team to play last season played very much to Luis strengths and lead to his improved returns. I think that's spot on actually.

I have to say that the idea of Suarez appealing to the football authorities in this country to arbitrate a contractual dispute in his favour is quite funny. Not just because they have a history of ruling in favour of the club in such matters and have a slightly vested interest in preventing player-power getting even more out of control, but also because he is just on such good terms with the establishment in this country.

This decision of his (assuming it has been made) to want to force a move to Arsenal is one of the most baffling I can ever think of. A side that have only just scraped into the CL in the last couple of years, will still be massive outsiders for the title with him in the side, haven't won anything for 8 years, have no record of CL success and will only pay him slightly bigger wages. Plus he'll be in London, home of the media which loves him so much, with a fanbase who won't treat him like we did. I just find the whole thing bizarre.

I wasnt doubting Brendans input contributing to Suarez's switch to world class status. If anything I reckon the same thing is about to happen again under him but with Sturridge (and obviously Cooties).
      One tit for another.

Many of us said that when we signed him and said the same thing when we signed Diouf.

We wanted to sign HM that acted in a bad way to force a move.

Players will force a move to join us and others will force a move away from the club.
one of the reasons I never wanted HM. Once a **** always a ****

I actually don't think too many teams will get the best out of Suarez like BR did last year, simply because he built the team around him. You need to build a team around him. Arsenal, Real how ever needs at least a season many more to fit him even change the set up completely.

Arsenal are told clock is ticking on Luis Suarez deal

              By: Richard Tanner

LIVERPOOL have told Arsenal they have until next week to meet their £50million valuation of Luis Suarez or face missing out on the striker altogether.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, while publicly keen to keep the player, does not want the saga rumbling on into the new campaign and further disrupting his pre-season plans.

It means Arsenal will have to significantly improve their offer of £40,000,001 for Suarez rejected by Liverpool earlier this week. The Gunners are reluctant to go to £50m and are hoping Suarez will put in a transfer request and force the issue.

And Suarez is unhappy with Rodgers’ comments that he owes Liverpool some loyalty.

The Uruguay international feels he carried the team through much of last season and that is payment enough for the support the club have shown him during his past controversies.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be boosted by reports in Spain claiming Real Madrid have cooled their interest in Suarez, which would give him a clear path to get his man.

Suarez has previously indicated he would prefer a move to the Spanish capital but Arsenal now appear to be his only escape route from Anfield.

Rodgers wants sufficient time to identify and sign a replacement for Suarez, who hit 30 goals in all competitions last season before his 10-game suspension for biting the arm of Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic.

The 26-year-old arrived in Bangkok with the rest of Liverpool’s squad last night despite speculation he had not travelled from Australia to Thailand for the final leg of the club’s pre-season tour. Preliminary talks between Suarez’s agent Pere Guardiola and Arsenal are believed to have already taken place over the terms of a contract.

Rubbish. Drop him in any side in the world and he'd perform. He wouldn't necessarily score as many goals but that would be due to less opportunities, and he'd be setting them up instead.

Stick him anywhere in attack and he'd rip it up.

And we didn't set our team up around him out of a desire to help him look good, we did it because he was the only player scoring goals, it was in our interest.

I dunno if BR is using the media to try and talk him into staying, or to make us feel better about him leaving (highlighting we've done all we can), but either way it's about hearts and minds now not facts and logic.

Will be glad when this window is over.

Hopefully we can stand our ground like the Mancs did with us over Heinze and he can ****ing do what he's told.
If true then he's a ******* for trying to secure the best deal for Arsenal. It is a cruel action to a club that's supported him so vehemently. All he needs to do is tow the line in public that he's worth £50m and that he hopes Arsenal meets the club's valuation.

This must have ****ed his massive ego big time. He would have thought the big European clubs would be after him. As of yet none are interested

If Gerrard got death threats from some fans all those years ago, it's no surprise that Suarez would. His is a bigger kick in the nuts anyway. Not saying I'd resort to that kind of thing though, but there are going to be many fans who are hugely pissed at his actions

Is that Gerrard with Suarez in that picture? Looks like his hairstyle. Not going to read too much into that. Unless the club come out and say they've managed to persuade him to stay then it's as we were.

I like what Rodgers says though. He seems to connect with the fans and say exactly what they feel. Maybe he frequents a lot of forums?!

Arsenal thought because of the clause they could get Suarez on the cheap.

@LFCGlobe said he turned down a new contract offer from us.

I agree with MrM above and also Rodgers. His desire to join Arsenal is just totally bizarre. People can say what they like but they are not a bigger club than us, not in any terms. He'd be better off giving it another season here and moving to a foreign club next summer if he still wants to move on and we don't make the CL
