Maybe if real really wanted him then we'd be talking about a higher valuation, but they seemingly don't. They want Bale. With one interested club (one who don't like spending money)and Suarez bizarrely wanting to join them, the price is depressed.

Him joining arsenal and them not making the group stages would be too funny.

      EXCLUSIVE

@MerseyReds1: SUAREZ FAILS MEDICAL AT THE EMIRATES TODAY. They showed him around the ground & his asthma flared up because of the dust in the trophy room.

Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

That's over double the price Wenger is willing to pay for Suarez in the same transfer window. Yeah right! We should now be quoting £60m+ instead of £50m+.

Suarez can't have any arguments with that surely. He is obviously on par with Bale this window, certainly not half the value.

Yeah I've seen £81m mentioned because Levy allegedly reckons it will be more likely to appease the fans if the existing world record fee is broken.

If bale is worth that money what are Ronaldo and messi worth ? Can't see this happening.

Downing: We all want Suarez to stay at LFC

Stewart Downing has urged Luis Suarez to stay at Liverpool FC and spearhead the club's push for a Champions League spot this season.

The Uruguayan's future remains uncertain with Arsenal considering whether to increase their second bid of £40million plus £1.

However, Downing is hoping Liverpool's £55million valuation isn't met and Suarez gives up on pursuing a move.

“It's so important for us to keep hold of him as Luis is one hell of a player,” Downing said.

“He's had some good discussions with the manager which will remain private.

“For us as players nothing changes. He's still the same player and he's a great lad to have around the place. He gets on well with all the lads.

“Luis knows we all want him to stay. It would be so disappointing to lose him.”

Suarez, who returned to club duty a week ago and is expected to line up against Thailand today, has been the focus of attention on Liverpool's pre-season tour.

But Downing insists the summer-long saga hasn't hampered the Reds' preparations for the new season.

“What's going on with Luis isn't a distraction,” Downing said.

“Pre-season has gone really well so far and we've got some good results. Now we want to really push on.

“Since he came back Luis has been training really well and I think whatever happens with his Liverpool future will be sorted out in the next week or two.

“We want to keep all our best players to help us get into the Champions League. That has to be our aim this season.

“We've strengthened the squad with the new signings who have come in and I'm sure there will be a few more signings to come.

“If we can reproduce that form we showed in the second half of last season then we'll have a good chance of breaking into that top four.

“We want Luis to be part of that team. He's a top player, one of the best in the world, we saw that with the goals he scored last season. It's up to him and the club to sort things out.”

The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

What's it got to do with Downing, he'll probably not ever play in the same side regardless of where Suarez is

I'd like to see United go for Bale. If Real missed out there we'd surely have them over a barrel with Suarez.

Has there been any rumours of Arsenal looking at other players, strikers to be more precise, no signs of a plan B, an alternative should they not end up getting Suarez?

It's a bit unnerving that we seem to have done this with Soldado, but Arsenal since they came in for Suarez don't seem..as far as i'm aware going on what i've heard since it all began, to be looking at alternatives.

Of course it could just be that we are being more professional, covering all angles.

Suarez was plan B. Higuain was plan A.

Plan C is most of the times panic time because all the time you wasted on plan A and B.

More than a month left of the window but not many top class available players left out there and it takes time to sort out big deals.
