      He did. Klinsmann signed in the summer of 94.

        Does anyone else think the rest of his ban has done him a favour? It was almost as if the time off has reinvigorated him a bit. Especially after the confed cup.

          That set of signings in 94 by Spurs were ridiculous, both in ambition and balance "the front 5" - haha

          I so wanted Dumitrescu to be good, I loved the Romanian team from the 94 World Cup. Hagi was a genius, as has been said previously, I would have loved him to have come over here.

          Klinsmann was definitely the watershed signing for the superstar status of the Sky Premier League though. He was the kind of stature signing that you generally only saw the Italian league make at the time. Sea change time that signing.

              .
              I am not sure it was a watershed signing at the time for the 30yr old Kinnsman, Only cost spurs a couple of million and not done great at Monaco. I think it was the impact he made the short time he was here that made it the watershed moment for foreigners in prem

                He was a world star - sure he might have had a spell at Monaco that wasn't stellar, but the impact was there even before he kicked a ball. The press were all over it, there was blanket coverage across all the back pages.

                  eric cantona 1992

                  interesting, from wiki;
                  On 6 November 1991, after Liverpool's 3–0 victory over Auxerre in a UEFA Cup Second Round second leg tie at Anfield, Liverpool manager Graeme Souness was met by Frenchman Michel Platini at the end of the game, who told him that Cantona was available for sale to Liverpool. Souness thanked Platini, but declined the offer, citing dressing room harmony as his reason. He also had a strong selection of forwards available to him at the time, including Ian Rush, John Barnes, Dean Saunders and Ronny Rosenthal, and would be joined by Paul Stewart and Nigel Clough in the following years. In January 1992, Cantona arrived in England for a one-week trial with Sheffield Wednesday, managed by Trevor Francis, who were on course for a third place finish in the First Division just one season after promotion.
                  When offered a further week extension to the trial, he refused and instead joined Yorkshire rivals Leeds United,

                      With a higher line, I'd say Suarez is by far the better player.

                      Plus I'd say Suarez's World Cup handball was far better than Henry's

                      I do think Suarez has a much higher ceiling than Henry though. Henry at his peak was never a strong favorite for the world player of the year. I think Suarez if he continues improving can reach close to that level.

                      I also don't think the PL has ever seen a forward with so much skills and creativity. When Ronaldo and Rooney developed they morphed into more effective goal scorers and I think lost a bit of their skills. Every game consistently Suarez pulls of moves which make everyone jump out of their seats. Proper box office player!!!

                          Henry at his best was just incredible. Could take apart any team, any where, any place. Still would like a Suarez to get himself a single handed victory away from Anfield at one of the big boys. A hat trick at WHL on Sunday would certainly help matters!

                            I was thinking the other day that Suarez's free kicks are very similar to Henry's. Both incredible footballers, loved watching Henry - if only he'd been a Liverpool player.

                              That Easter game where Liverpool were 2-0 at half time, ffs. Henry just stepped it up at the restart.

                                We need Suarez to do what rooney and ronaldo did for utd, pull us through games when we look dead and buried. Hatricks are special, but hull away, spurs away, chelsea and city away are massive, can he get us points we have no right to expect? Ronaldo won the title on his own. Come on Luis, keep it up and score in the next 5 games.
