MANCHESTER CITY are ready to make a “huge investment” to lure Luis Suarez from Liverpool this summer. The Uruguay international is aware of the interest from City and other leading European clubs and will decide his future at the end of the season.
Txiki Begiristain, City’s director of football, knows Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko could ask to leave the Abu Dhabi-owned club this summer and has identified Suarez as his priority for the role of main striker. He believes the release clause included in the contract the Uruguayan signed at Liverpool in December makes a transfer viable if the player chooses to move.
Suarez wanted to leave Anfield last summer and was upset by the refusal of Liverpool’s owners to honour a contractual agreement that he could join a Champions League club meeting a fixed transfer fee. Last month, John W Henry confirmed that Suarez at that point “had a buyout clause of £40m”, which Henry and others within Fenway Sports Group, the club’s owners, chose to ignore. Fenway’s intransigence over an initial bid from Arsenal provoked a dispute between Suarez and Brendan Rodgers in which the manager accused the prolific striker of “total disrespect of the club — a club that has given him everything” and instructed him to train alone. Friends say Suarez regards his outstanding play this season as “a personal revenge” on Rodgers. His tally of 29 goals in 27 matches has put him on course to better scoring records for 38-game and 42-game Premier League campaigns. Suarez’s decision on his future will be informed by both his ambiguous relationship with Liverpool — he is appreciative of the supporters and captain Steven Gerrard — and the wishes of his young family. Real Madrid are also interested in the 27-year-old.
Begiristain has a good relationship with Suarez’s agent and also intends to bring a first-choice centre-back to City. The Spaniard has been assessing left-backs, too, but has made no offer to Bacary Sagna, whose contract is about to expire at Arsenal.
Suarez’s compatriot and fellow striker Edinson Cavani is also the subject of strong interest from a Manchester club, though Paris Saint-Germain’s Qatari owners have said they will resist any approach from United or other potential suitors.

He's keen to point out that the Sunday times is a totally different paper to his as some people had blamed Evans again. He thinks it's come from Suarezs agent to flush out interest from Madrid given that Castles wrote a lot of stuff last summer which came from Mr Guardiola.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostDid Barrett offer any personal view on his colleague's career suicide note?

Guardiola has said just a couple of weeks back that the City link is nonsense, Suarez is very happy at Liverpool and he isn't going anywhere.Originally posted by G View PostHe's keen to point out that the Sunday times is a totally different paper to his as some people had blamed Evans again. He is responsible for the three best non-goals of the season. The two outrageous chips today and that ****ing volley against Arsenal. Among the ridiculous number of goals and assists, I hope the people responsible for putting together his end of season highlights reel remember to include those three attempts. Insane footballer. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
