            golden samba.

Luis Suarez was presented with a Golden Samba in front of the Kop on Sunday to mark his achievements for Liverpool FC this season.

The Liverpool striker was an emphatic winner of the Player of the Year award which was voted for by members of online forum Red All Over The Land.

Philippe Coutinho picked up the young player accolade, while a third Golden Samba went to Jamie Carragher in recognition of his 16 years of service.

Lucas Leiva won the inaugural Golden Samba in 2011 with Martin Skrtel victorious 12 months ago.

Creator of the awards Chris Maguire said: “It started two years ago with some chit chat on the forum about who deserved to be player of the year. I put a poll up and when Lucas came out on top we decided to have a whip around and get him something.

"With him being from Brazil, someone suggested an Adidas Samba. I decided to paint it gold, mount it on some wood and got it engraved.

“It’s become more high profile since with more people latching on to it. Suarez got 95% of the votes this year but the young player one was very close between Jordan Henderson and Coutinho who just edged it.

“With Jamie retiring we decided to get a third Samba and present him with the legend award. He was made up and got Luis and Coutinho over to the Kop for the presentation on the lap of honour.”

Luis Suarez insists move away from Liverpool is just speculation as Barcelona and Real Madrid plan bids for Liverpool man

Luis Suarez said there is no cause for concern among Liverpool fans as he denied Barcelona and Real Madrid have priority over bidding for him this summer.

Asked about the Spanish giants possible interest in signing him Suarez said: 'As far as I’m aware there is no clause that suggests a priority for any team.

'My head now is focused on the World Cup. Everyone knows there will be media speculation this summer as there always is but I have a contract with Liverpool.'

Suarez is used to seeing his name linked with moves away from Anfield, but said he has a foolproof way of avoiding becoming embroiled in any transfer saga.

'I just turn the page,' he added. 'You know what the speculation is like and you try not to take any notice. I know what I want and it is more speculation than reality.'

Presented in Barcelona as the new image of betting company 888poker he admitted there had been tears of rage underneath his Liverpool shirt when he walked off the pitch at Selhurst Park knowing the league was gone.

'I had a lot of rage inside me knowing that just a week before we had a great chance to win the league and in that moment it was the realisation that the opportunity had probably gone.

'I just wanted to hide my face and get down the tunnel. We had had such a great season but it wasn’t going to be enough. The key game was against Chelsea. Maybe we lacked a touch of concentration or focus to stop that goal or create a clear chance after it to get the draw and then depend on ourselves.

'I don’t think they would have scored and a draw would have been okay for us. But after losing that game we knew that we were no longer relying on ourselves and that was a big blow psychologically to the team.

'It’s been a great season. We did all we could do. Every player gave absolutely everything. We would have taken just being in the top four at the end of the season. But then coming so close it was heart-breaking to miss out.

'When we started the season the aim was to finish in the top four but over the course of the season it became clear that we had a chance to win the league. Then you have the disappointment of not doing that but if we look back at that original target then we should be really happy.

'We are back in the Champions league, which is where Liverpool belongs. My season wasn’t bad. The whole team played really well and we gave the fans something to be proud of.'

Suarez can still win the Golden Boot for most league goals in a European season, and said: 'It’s an honour for me to be fighting for it with the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Costa who has also had an incredible season.'

If Ronaldo fails to score this weekend the two will finish with the same number of goals and Suarez would win with a better goals per games ratio.

Asked if Liverpool’s title chances next season will be improved by their experience in this campaign he said: 'Well we were first with just a few weeks left so that will give the younger players great experience going into next season. Those young players will grow and be even stronger next time.'

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez says he takes no notice of speculation linking him with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid or Barcelona this summer.

Luis Suarez scored 31 Premier League goals as Liverpool finished second last season.

Suarez was widely tipped for a move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu last summer, and talked about his dream of playing for Madrid.

However, the forward stayed at Anfield and was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year for his performances in Liverpool's Premier League title challenge, which saw them finish two points off eventual winners Manchester City.

Despite signing a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Liverpool in December, the Uruguay international has again been linked with a move to the Bernabeu recently, but he told Marca that he tends to ignore such rumours.

"I do not take any notice of these stories. I have a contract with Liverpool," Suarez said. "When I read that Madrid want to sign me, I turn the page. It is just speculation.

"I am focused on the World Cup and am not thinking about any speculation."

Suarez was also not keen to be drawn on whether he liked the idea of playing alongside Barcelona pair Lionel Messi and Neymar next year.

"They are great, world-class players, but this is all just speculation," he said.

The Liverpool star's 31 league goals in 2013-14 see him currently level with Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for Europe's Golden Boot, with Ronaldo reported to be willing to risk his current hamstring issue to play in his side's final La Liga game of the season this Saturday against Espanyol so he can score one more and claim the prize.

Suarez said such individual goalscoring awards were not really a preoccupation, although admitted that being so close now, he hoped that Ronaldo would not beat him at the end.

"It makes me proud to be competing with players on the level of Cristiano, Messi and Diego Costa," he said. "What happens is that you get fed up scoring goals and it bores you because they do it so easily... at the start of the season it was not my objective.

"[But] as the season goes on you keep scoring. When Madrid play I will be hoping that Cristiano does not score any more."

The 27-year-old said coming so close in the title race before being pipped to the post by City had been disheartening -- especially given the 3-3 draw at Crystal Palace in the penultimate game -- but that, overall, the season had been a memorable one.

"I felt a bit of frustration. Against Crystal Palace we lost the league," he said. "But it has been a very good year. The initial objective was to be among the top four and we have ended up second."

He added: "The negative point of the season is that we had the league title so close. When we started the season our target was to finish in the top four. We finished second in the Premier League and that is amazing for Liverpool after not finishing in the top four [in recent seasons] and now we are back in the Champions League.

"I think what we were lacking was that in that key game against Chelsea, we weren't unlucky, we just weren't concentrating hard enough when they scored against us after not doing much. We then lacked the focus to create chances to level."

I think he'll go this summer. Madrid will come in with a big offer and he'll want the move. It will probably drag on after the world cup with Madrid eventually paying whatever the release clause in his contract is... and if it's anything less than 100 million they will have got him for an absolute steal. Madrid will start with a bid of around 45 million. I'm sure there is a clause, I also think its possible that more than one club may try and activate it if it's in the 75 million range, as I suspect it is.

Luis is speaking in quite wishy-washy terms in my opinion, similarly to around this point last year.

It'll be gutting if he goes, but I can't shake the feeling that he will.
