Agreed. It is everything to him. He'd play on one leg if he could. IMO it's great for us too cos you want your best players happy and motivated, and playing a Brazilian World Cup would be immense for him. He'd come back absolutely buzzing. Also as football fans you want the best players playing.

His greatest season ever, ending in double heartbreak would be such an injustice.

surely this should be a Liverpool Medical Staff decision rather than a national one?

The national decision will be short term with potential massive risk just to get him through the summer - they might not care as much what happens to him after that

This. He might be slow as **** but after a bit of time getting used to the league he was really quite good for them in the second half of the season, nowhere near the liability people made him out to be.

Totally agree, players were already dropping like flies in the last few weeks of the season, I love the World Cip but I hate how it completely truncates needed rest periods and pre-season. If only there was a way to play less games or reorganise the calendar somehow in leadup seasons, without the space being filled by pointless friendlies etc.

That's the thing, it won't be about us or the Uruguyan staff, it'll be Luis making that decision

I wouldn't say that's entirely true, he's got plenty of years of football ahead of him and his national side (and country) do rather try to take care of Luis. Regardless as I said above, if he thinks he's fit it'd take an army to stop him playing, I doubt LFC would be able to influence him much any way.

We over played him this year and by the final few weeks it was showing.

I do not understand the point of playing the full 90 in games that were dead and buried - saving him for 10-15 minutes in those games really adds up over the course of a season and gives other players game time.

              Hindsight eh?

By the end of games plenty of players were often dead and buried. Sterling, Sturridge, Coutinho for example. Suarez was the likely to be suffering. As Shaggy says, he was practically bullet proof with no history of injuries until yesterday.

And he got plenty of rest at the end of last season and the beginning of this.
              Oh I don't know.

Injury might be totally unrelated to fatigue anyway. We're just speculating.
                Are we winning?

Really gutted for Luis! Was all set up for him to be his tournament. He'll just have to shine extra bright in the CL for us next season instead

The disappointment will eat him up and drive him on,we'll benefit from that, even though its **** for him.As long as this ins't the start of him not being bullet proof anymore I can take positives from it. Just hope he doesn't rush himself back and do further damage.
