I'm not sure it was even possible to overplay him this season. He missed the first 5 league games of course and and only started something like 2 cup games all season.

We were only playing once a week for the vast majority of it and the players were afforded 2 days recovery after matches because of the amount of time between games.

He started 35 games in all competitions, over the course of something like 32 weeks. Not a huge amount at all really.

gutted as when you watch the world cup you want to see the best players at their best.

worried, because well he's a star for us and i get worried about any of our players getting injuries.

And selfish point of view, i hope he now misses the world cup so he can rest and recover fully and come back to us as good as new

i am concerned that he might be rushed back and it will do more harm than good
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

By the end of games plenty of players were often dead and buried. Sterling, Sturridge, Coutinho for example. Suarez was the likely to be suffering. As Shaggy says, he was practically bullet proof with no history of injuries until yesterday.

And he got plenty of rest at the end of last season and the beginning of this.
No I thought it at the time so it isn't hindsight.

Do you mean to say that Sterling, Sturridge and Coutinho are equally important to us? If so you are wrong, Suarez is more influential than any of those players and for that reason he should be protected even more.

I accept he is extremely resistant to injury but injury and fatigue are not the same thing- although either can prevent a player from giving his optimum performance.

No, I'm saying they looked way more exhausted than Suarez did, hence being subbed off ahead of him.
                        Oh I don't know.

Well I would have thought that this aspect of football management was more sophisticated than simply subbing off whichever of your 11 looked the most tired.. other considerations might come into play.

Perhaps, but if a player looks completely dead on his feet, then that seems to me like it could be a pretty good indicator that he is actually exhausted, at risk of injury, and at risk of ****ing things up on the pitch.

Just hoping it's a meniscal repair rather than partial meniscectomy. The latter are often quicker to recover from but with a worse outcome in the long term.

Luis Suarez injury: Uruguay fans blame Newcastle's Paul Dummett

Newcastle defender Paul Dummett has received online death threats from Uruguay fans who blame him for the knee injury sustained by Luis Suarez.
Liverpool's Suarez, 27, had surgery on Wednesday, but is hopeful of being fit for next month's World Cup.
Uruguay fans have targeted Dummett, 22, via Twitter for a challenge he made in a Premier League game on Suarez, but it is not certain it caused the injury.
Dummett was sent off but his red card was later rescinded.

There had been no report of an injury for Suarez as a result of the challenge in Liverpool's 2-1 win over Newcastle at Anfield, but he complained of pain at the start of Uruguay's training camp this week.
Uruguay open their World Cup campaign in the Group D opener against Costa Rica on 14 June and then face England five days later.
Uncapped Dummett was called into the Wales squad on Thursday for their friendly game against the Netherlands next week.
