I cannot justify what he did but what is worse, a bite on the shoulder or a knee high tackle? This is how Luis reacts and he needs to have some kind of counselling for it. I just hope the end result of all this is he stays at Liverpool.

I'd say the bite is worse.
      Oh I don't know.

The club should have hired a decent anger management therapist/psychiatrist to help him, if rumors were true and they did they were obviously being cheapskates - should of flown in the best in the business from the United States.
The thing is that he behaved well during the season, and there were some really tense games there. So maybe has the right people there, but Uruguay doesn't.

He's going to have plenty of time to get help. Can't see how FIFA will not get the FA involved and they won't hesitate to ban Suarez as part of some lengthy international suspension. if The Guardian's 24 game estimate came into play then he's pretty much done for 2014.

EDIT: At least Hodgson gets all the heat taken off him. Zero back page coverage of England's final demise in Brazil!!

Is it official that he can only be banned for International matches? Surely it should be.

When he bit Ivanovic no one was calling for him to be banned for Uruguay now were they!

As for selling him from the owners perspective I think the only thing they'd be worried about is the increased likelihood that he will do something similar like this AGAIN to shame the club. We're lucky this time it was for Uruguay and not Liverpool!

Still if he gets an international ban and Real and Barca are scared off then I'd call this an unconventional win for us

Really? I think people react like they do to bites because they are so out of the ordinary, and almost animalistic.

There would be less uproar if Suarez had punched someone square in the face.

I know what I'd rather be on the end of.

Keane's pre-meditated knee-high leg breaker on Haaland? Snapped his leg - "take that you cunt" - much less uproar and 'outrage' than this.

I'm not condoning it - it's crazy and the fact he's done it now three times is bat**** mental and he clearly has a problem. But I'd rather be on the end of a Suarez bite than a punch or elbow to the face, a headbutt or a leg breaker. Every time. Many worse things happen on a football pitch than biting - but not much more unusual.

Not from what I understand. The maximum penalty is 24 matches, which can also include domestic games. It is not often this has been done, but the possibility is there.

Opposition players will defo be using owt they can against him to provoke a reaction. Most likely Chielini did too. He's unplayable so why not get him sent off?
                    3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I agree Shaggy, I mean with Luis it is extra ridiculous because he's done it repeatedly, but no way is that as bad as say, Ben Thatcher's assault, or anything even close to Cantona attacking a fan.

I also completely don't see how, moral indignation from the UK press aside, any FIFA action can at all involve the FA, it completely isn't their jurisdiction and vice versa - he was free to play internationals after the Ivanovic bite wasn't he?

Yep. Any domestic/club ban would be unprecedented (I think) and ridiculous.

I'd love it FIFA went against the English narrative and handed out a "we're not really that arsed" 4-5 game ban for violent conduct.

Don't kid yourself. This was an unprovoked attack. Suarez sought him out. It was deliberate. He obviously made a meal of it, but you still have to say that Chiellini was largely blameless in this.

Laughably though the Mirror have quite clearly used a totally fake picture - blood and all sorts on Chiellini's shoulder. Pathetic.
I've explained the pics in a previous page. The mirror pic is a Getty one with lots of added red. The one showing dark marks has had the colour/contrast adjusted (whole pic) to make the marks looks much darker than they were. Neither are 'fake' as such but have been doctored in a sense.

                              Yep I do.

The Keane incident was an exception and he should have been punished appropriately. It was premeditated and disgusting. And he got off lightly. It wasn't the norm.

Most bad / high tackles are made in the heat of the moment and are the result of a mistimed or over eager challenge for the ball. They rarely result in a serious injury, although that happens occasionally.

So in my view, a bite in the heat of the moment is not dissimilar to a heat of moment bad tackle in some ways. But a bite is vulgar and it's completely socially unacceptable, particularly if you're a multiple offender. And there's no way he's going for the ball with his teeth.

I'd rather be kicked in the leg than be bitten by someone.
                              Oh I don't know.

That would be great but can't see it happening. The UK media will start another witch-hunt and sadly I can see it being used by the Suarez camp (i.e. his Agent) as a reason to want out of Liverpool.
