Borussia Mönchengladbach

Here is a question.

A mate from work, (well as close as you can be with a Manc) visited Germany at the weekend, and went to see Borussia Mönchengladbach play. He commented on the fact there were quite a few people there in Liverpool shirts. I suggested they could have been visiting, but he said they were definately german, and a few had Liverpool patches on other shirts or jackets.

I know we beat them in a European Final a while back, but is there any other reason for close ties, other than just having amazing taste?

We have a very close relationship with the fans. I remember reading some stuff on here or elsewhere about meetups etc.

Isn't there a yearly meetup where the two sets of fans organise a game or something?

They were Emlyn's testimonial apparently and were incredible after Hillsborough, we have them over each year and some of ours go out there each year.

Couldnt imagine this sort of thing happening with an Italian or Spanish team.

German football and culture seems to be a lot closer than anywhere else.
