Henry Winter's one culprit. Wrote a laughable article saying how disgusted he was with Spurs fans for getting on Harry's back and what a wonderful job he's done this year. Yet almost exactly a year ago he wrote a total hatchet job on Benitez, which included the laughable question "Lucas or Murphy?"
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Yet as you say Shaggy, when it was Rafa most journos couldn't wait to stick the boot in.

If we'd spent anywhere close to what Spurs had in the past 2 - 3 seasons I honestly think we'd have seen the gold badges on the shirt and Gerrard with the PL trophy!

Redknapp loves to spend money, and big time - average manager and he'll move on if and when they curb their spending.

Out of interest what is their net spend since Harry Redknapp took over?

To get Spurs into the CL was fantastic work by Harry. Getting them into the QF was even better. His problem in the league has been the failure of his strikers to perform. It was common knowledge Rednknapp wanted a top striker in January, and had they got one I think they'd have made 4th.

Too little too late by the Spurs board to act tbh. It is madness to call for his head. He got them 4th for the first time since I don't know when and they are competing in the European Cup for the first time since god knows when as well. A debut season in the CL was always going to have an effect on Spurs.

Whilst they have backed Redknapp to get to the stage they were last season, he needed to be backed more heavily than ever at the start of this one. That would have sealed 4th again and given them a better chance of winning something. Instead they rested on their laurels and have paid for it and will once again be playing catch up in the summer.

In some ways Spurs being out of Europe next season could be a bad thing for us, last year they proved they were capable of making the top 4 with their squad if they had no other distractions. This year has shown how difficult it can be balancing the two, if they don't have European football next year they could concentrate on gettting top 4 and would likely be a much greater threat.

They'll be a bigger threat next year because this year has shown serious short comings in their squad. There problem is that at the start of this season they had CL football and thus could attract the higher level players. Now they don't, so can forget about signing the likes of Rossi and Forlan IMO.

I think it depends on what they do in the summer, I'd forgotten there were rumours they'd have to sell players if they didn't make the CL again, whether this is true or not I don't know. Obviously they will need to make some signings in the summer but whether they will have a net flow of players in or out will make a big difference. I think if they can maintain their squad as it is with less games they can do better than this year, without that there will be problems.

nicked this from a Spurs site so might not be 100% accurate - United's would be something like 85-90 M without the Ronaldo sale so changes it a bit.

I dont see why ronaldo's deal shouldn't count. It DID occur... Its like other clubs discrediting the torres deal because the idiots paid too much.

To be honest I thought it would be more than that. I guess when you put it in perspective that they have only been in CL for 1 season that's alot, especially when us, Man Utd and Arsenal who have been in the CL most of that time have spent alot less. Obviously City's spending is just crazy

I expected it to be more - founds another site which shows spending and sales from 2006-2011

I can't believe where Stoke and Man United are !

Aston Villa and Sunderland above us
