I think we'd all prefer (and I reckon Kenny agrees with us) 3 or 4 players of genuine class, rather than 6 or 7 to paper over the cracks.

For example if we signed three brilliant players but had no left back I wouldn't be too upset. We know Johnson, Flanagan, Aurelio etc can play there.

Young, Cahill and M'vila would be make us a much better side. Obv I've never actually seen M'Vila play but I'm assuming he's boss

Would there really be any need for two defensive midfielders tho - Lucas and M'vila?

I do like M'Vila, great prospect but i'm not sure we really need him bearing in mind Lucas' form.

Be surprised if N'gog and Cole were still with us next season.
Maxi's recent form has put any prospect of Cole being given another season at Liverpool to bed.

I cannot see them staying one more season. Cole cannot get more than few minutes of playing time and Ngog cannot even make to the bench these days..

Things will only get worse for them as we'll improve next year and in process limit their opportunities even more.

Neh, they both should be sold as Kenny certainly doesn't fancy Ngog and Cole's wages are killing us.

a) Do you think we're going to drop Dirk Kuyt to the bench?

b) CM (playmaker type)-- Ever Banega type, I reckon, to fill the Mascher role?

c) AM-- Eden Hazard type, to partner Gerrard ala Alonso?

d) Striker-- if Kuyt is dropped, we'd have Suarez/Carroll/Kuyt/Ngog... Man U have Rooney/Hernandez/Berba/Owen(pff) , Chelsea have Torres/Anelka/Kalou/new striker (assuming Drogba is gone)-- our four is very effective; throw in a winger, and do we really need a striker, or are you selling off N'gog for a more talented but relatively priced replacement?

If funds are capped at whatever number, I think this adds depth, but we are not going to get world class players at seven positions; I think we have to prioritize an LB, LW and CB-- spend there and go for value in the other spots. No?

I cannot see him coming. Matuidi I can. Left footed, fairly young (24), cheaper option and Comolli already spoke highly of him and knows him first hand.

Ok, as it's fantasy time I've gone for quite a few new top additions although I didn't go as far as picking anyone that I think potentially we couldn't get (Messi, etc).

Going for a fairly youthful first team and bench although more senior players would get bench spots for the bigger games for the experience.

I think he is vastly underrated by our supporters.

So, with Gerrard back, and Suarez running all over the pitch and the need to bring in Carroll and a LW now in the fold AND playing 2 holding/ defensive midfielders... we have the age old dilemma of where to put Gerrard.

I know what you mean, but i'm still not convinced two defensive players in midfield is required. I suppose it depends on whether Lucas can become slightly more creative like he was on Monday night...played a big part in 2 of our goals.

That midfield and forward line looks deadly, although a lot will depend on whether Gerrard can get back into form.
If he can't then we're struggling for some creativity.

Yep, i agree. It's probably for the best for Club and the two players if they move on.

If both players do leave i wish them all the best, two decent guys by all accounts. Just hasn't worked out. That's football.
