Agree Cahill will be way overpriced so would leave that one. But, I can reapply see young under Kenny being a very handy player.

Perhaps he's not a flashy signing but he'd be the first choice CB in every PL club including us.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostI really do not think Cahill or Young would be good. Cahill is not good enough to be anything other than 4th choice and for his price that would not be good and Young is a headless chicken. I would be severely unimpressed with the club if we do this.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

He is also error prone, he is never good enough to be first choice for us. And to suggest he'd be ahead of Vidic or Ferdinand is ridiculous.Originally posted by Mostar View PostPerhaps he's not a flashy signing but he'd be the first choice CB in every PL club including us.

I get that you don't rate him (he's not my first choice either) but it is silly to say that he would be our 4th choice.
In terms of ManU Ferdinand is not nearly a player he once was and I am not so sure that if Cahill were there he would be an automatic starter.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

It isn't though, he is not better than Carragher, Agger or Skrtel imo so he would be fourth choice.Originally posted by Mostar View PostI get that you don't rate him (he's not my first choice either) but it is silly to say that he would be our 4th choice.

Ferdinand is still a far better player than Cahill.

Agger when fit is definitely better player but other 2 are not.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostIt isn't though, he is not better than Carragher, Agger or Skrtel imo so he would be fourth choice.

At 32 Rio is not a player he once was just like Carra.
I think Kenny will be going after CB this summer and Cahill could easily be his top pick and he would certainly not doing that to improve our 4th choice option.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

They really are, Cahill is distinctly average and hasn't even looked average in some games.Originally posted by Mostar View PostAgger when fit is definitely better player but other 2 are not.

I genuinely would not want to see Cahill at at Liverpool.
He maybe 32 but he and Carra are both still better than a 25 year old Cahill.

Cahill wouldn't be my first choice CB but I wouldn't be that opposed if he joins us.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostThey really are, Cahill is distinctly average and hasn't even looked average in some games.

Rio is 32 and he and Carra are more mature and experienced than Cahill but not better. Both are past their best but in case of Rio that seems to be less gradual.
Gary can give you offensive productivity (13 goals and 4 assists in last 3 years) which Rio failed to do any in last 2 seasons and Carra never had and that shouldn't be overlooked.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

He can, but that is not what we would be signing him. Defensively he is no way near as sound as either Carra or Rio.Originally posted by Mostar View PostCahill wouldn't be my first choice CB but I wouldn't be that opposed if he joins us.

Sorry mate, I really think Cahill would be an awful signing, I have nothing in his play to suggest otherwise.

I hear you. Yes he would not be a great signing but there aren't too many good CBs that will be available this summer for reasonable fee and if Kenny thinks he's the the one so be it.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostHe can, but that is not what we would be signing him.
