This 'opposition keeper at the Kop' thingy....

You know, the applause, and then subsequent boos if the keeper doesnt applaud back....

It's often occurred to me that goalkeepers of foreign clubs rarely get what's going on, and therefore dont clap back, because they're assuming the Kop is applauding LFC, rather then them.

Bit harsh to boo them, methinks.

The whole notion appears to get lost in translation.

You can just imagine the keeper telling of his experience back home...

"So how was it playing in front of the famous Kop?"

"B*llocks.....all i did was run towards my goalmouth, and the feckers booed me".....

The same thing happened at the Gala game then the keeper realized and applauded back and then the Kop started applauding again.

It's quite a great touch tbh, it's stuff like that you rarely see on TV. As well as the Kop chanting Shankly's name at HT of that game.

As a matter of interest do the Kop applaud Scum and Bluenose keepers?
"With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."

In the sixties it was a derby day tradition for someone to jump out of teh Kop and present Everton keeper Gordon West with a handbag. In fairness to him he always took it in good part

The kop applauds all keepers, aways has done. The good ones know to return the applause.

Brad Friedel gave us a great clap when we played Rovers a few weeks ago.
                  Nice touch.
What Premiership keepers usually don't clap the Kop?

Applauded and Martyn often clapped back, Van Der Sar has done it a lot over the years aswell. Petr Cech is an ignorant **** though.

I know they do. Your second line is gibberish mate, good or not, if foreign keepers arent aware of this, they aint gonna know.

When they don't return the applause it can be a bit irritating - like putting your hand out to somebody who just stares at it. But it annoys me when the Kop boos the non-responding keeper, especially when it could easily be a case of lack of awareness (Cech is a different case).
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

You'd have thought Paul Robinson was playing for a transfer when he came a few weeks ago. Applauded the Kop well before he got into his penalty box, continuted to clap all sections of the Kop with his hands above his head, then put his keeper's bag in the net and turned round with a thumbs-up!

Even ex-players don't usually show that amount of love!

They should always be aware, no matter where in the world they're from!
