He is obviously a journalist that you can buy to write things you want him to write.

He was allegedly bought by Gillett and Hicks for example to write imagined up **** things about Rafa and try and get them look as good as possible.

    That is only one example.

Like after the other year, when the mancs won the league and the CL - we had to listen to their fans singing 'champions of england, champions of europe' every ****ing week. Balls to that ****. It's not about feeling threatened, it's about feeling annoyed by it
But that's the Mancs, a whole different ball game!

                  Yep, me too.

Thing I don't get about that toe-curlingly poor article, is what the hell national identity has to do with non-international football? This final isn't Spain v England, its Barcelona v ManU. Gone are the days when the majority of players in any team were from that country anyway. Man U are our our rivals, Barcelona aren't, surely its quite logical really that most LFC fans would be supporting Barca?

                    Like nationalism isn't tribalism anyway.
                    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

But these are modern times, it's not the 60's or 70's anymore. There is a bigger rivalry and it seems the only thing better than winning something yourself is to see a major rival fail. But that's just the way it is.

Come Saturday I'm happy to report I'll be supporting Barcelona. I'm watching the game with one my best mates who happens to be a massive Man Utd fan. I'll not rub it in if they lose, but I will be delighted.
But not all Liverpool fans are english, so why would a chinese LFC fan want Utd to win just because the 2 teams play in the same league?? I want Barcelona to win because their fans and players don't hate us.

For me, this is not about England or national pride, because I am not English (well, my heritage, but not nationality); it is as simple as you don't support the success of your direct rivals, especially those who will use every single opportunity to compare their own attempts at success at your own triumphs and history. Chelsea and their failures in Europe are something I enjoy, Arsenal never being able to get it together, I like that, but United above all, the club and supporters who use our club as the model and yardstick for their own self-image only to denigrate us at every step; there is no way in the world I would ever cheer for them in any capacity; I root against them in testimonials, FFS. That doesn't mean I don't recognize how good they have been; that only makes it worse.

Now, if it was something like Man City against Real Madrid, I might pull for City simply because Real's CL success is something I would love for us to one day surpass and Man City are just on the rise and they hate United as much as I do. But other than that, I tend to support anyone playing our direct rivals; if our rivals fail, we strategically have a better chance of success with players, financial parity, etc etc. let alone the trophy shelves that everyone sings about. I don't live in Liverpool, I have never been to Manchester, but the rivalry transcends the "tribalism" and geography of England. It is international. I've had New York City residents in Man U shirts sing "you Scouse *******s" at me and my friends while we watch the match in a pub!

I love rivalries and in my life there are two teams that I watch only to hope that they lose; Manchester United and Ohio State University. Both of them have been dominant for a long time now, it's been frustrating, but it only fuels the fire even more. There is pleasure in despising a rival. it is part of what defines me as a supporter of the teams I love.

                        Roll Barça!

i would like to add that city winning the cl would be an even bigger disaster for us than having them be rich and merely participating in it, which is where we are today.
