Don't fear the Barca reaper, as we have him on our side (Borrell).

I keep thinking this will be sponsored by Gillette (not George).

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I wouldn't have thought that it would generate much revenue (directly at least), I'd have thought it's more about developing players.

By the way how come the likes of Man Utd and Arsenal aren't in it?

Still under negotiation according to the article from the Mail that Chazza posted.

there will be a sponsorship idea behind this hence the finals being played in the middle east

developing players will be part of it but making some money will also come into it.

I also notice this hasn't been sanctioned by UEFA or FIFA yet and they'll certainly want a slice of any action involved!

I think quite a few clubs wanted to see how well it was run for a year before getting involved. It also says that it started on invite only based on the quality of the academies

Blatter is probably slobbering all over his lap at the thought.

It's very strange that this wasn't done before.

Somehow I missed that when reading through the article

I would imagine though that as a youth tournament any money would be virtually insignificant in comparison to senior competitions.

I hadn't noticed FIFA or UEFA weren't involved, no doubt they will stake their claim for some involvement one way or another.

It would be funny if they aren't invited in future

I like this tournament and it's something to look forward to, but i worry that it'll all end in tears - Raheem Sterling takes it by storm, rips everyone a new arsehole and then Barca/Real Madrid come in for him next summer

Does this tournament really have such a bad name?
