    U-17 World Cup (LFC related)

This might be the shortest lived thread on the forum but as England are at the Quarter Final stage playing Germany tonight with potentially several LFC players on show I thought it might be an idea to have its own thread rather than spamming the Raheem Sterling one.

    Eurosport - 20:50
    Live FIFA U17 World Cup - Quarter-final (130min)
    Germany Vs England

If England get through this evening they face the winner of the France V Mexico match that is being shown on the same channel at midnight.

Uruguay Vs Brazil is the first semi final.

    Sterling
    Morgan
    Smith
    Regan

I'm assuming the Germans are favourites?

It is a game of football after all.

I think most LFC fans knew a little about Sterling but Brad Smith looks a fantastic prospect, engine, energy, quick, likes a tackle, great left foot.
Adam Morgan has done well in his sub appearances, disappointed he hasn't had more of a run out ahead of Hope.
Morgan looks sharper and more mobile, Hope a bigger target to hit and probably holds it up better.

Also it's plainly obvious that we are planning ahead picking Sterling on the left hand side for the past year as he drives inside with Smith providing the width overlapping.
You can tell they've been worked on as a pair not just as 2 individuals

Yeah, they won 5-0 in their last game I think when we scrapped through with a penalty win.

I thought the Japanese were going to win it but Brazil knocked them out last night.

Morgan definitely looks the better player to me. I'm not sure about Smith, it could have been the pissing rain in the last game but his control of the ball was pretty shocking and got caught out of position a fair bit although to be fair he was pretty good other times I've seen him.

You can improve technique and positional awareness, the more experience he gets the better he'll be, the Argentina game was a farce, I didn't think Sterling did very well either.

It's hard to quantify exactly what 'it' is but Smith has it IMO, the aggression, energy levels, recovery runs, he's an outlet, always wants the ball.

I've been really impressed with him, reminded me of a young Ashley Cole if I'm honest

Bit young to be cheating on his wife and shooting the work experience boy, no?

Exactly. Weren't the German senior team thrashing all teams in the world cup last year only to be beaten in the semis? Or was it quarters?

We have a solid back four, with Chalobah excelling. A functional if unexciting midfield, and some brilliant wingers - yes even Turgott. Could sneak this on penalties.
                  One tit for another.

Semi's, to Spain, who were expected to win.

Thought it might have been Spain.

Has anyone seen the German U-17s so far this tournament? Despite the silly amount of goals coming about from great teamwork and ridiculously sh*t opposition, has any player stood out as the next big 'whatsisname'?

I think the German's are due a bad game and its good timing for us.

Their last game was very flattering to them and they aren't that great. Nobody has stood out for me.
