The Germans were better than England technically. Now that I've admitted that, its also fair to say this was yet another game where the scoreline almost flattered them (before we pulled two goals back).

The key difference between the two teams were the keepers (with a bit of Smith). We had a reasonably solid defence and a better midfield than I first gave credit for. Had the waste of space Pickford not gifted them the first two goals, we would have eventually gone on to win as we wouldn't have been playing desperate claw-back football.

To continue with Hope and not replace him with Morgan was an admission by the coaching staff that they're not really here to win anyway. Which is fair enough too I guess, better to have the youngsters develop and learn rather than pressured too early.
    One tit for another.

Says a lot about Belford when he is behind him in the pecking order.

      Good game to watch though.

I bet them couple of people who were raving about Smith previously are glad that this match got it's own thread.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The scoreline defniitely did flatter them. The first two goals were totally against the run of play and England were getting more of the ball. I think with a little more maturity and better defending we could have got past them quite easily.

I was one of those raving about Smith, his mistakes are things that can be coached out of him, he'll get better with experience.

He has natural attributes and abilities that cannot be coached.

He is a natural modern full back.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Even with a dodgy keeper and a left back who needs to learn how to defend, we should have gone past them had we played Morgan at some point. Hope was knackered and contributed nothing - even his goal didn't redeem him.

Adryan, Charles, Jonathan, Leo, Nathan, Wallace and Wellington...

                Brazil, obviously.
                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
