I think it's just the same injury that ruled him out of the season - he's still recovering and as such, will miss the tour. No new news.

Operation was ages ago. I'd think he'd be healed by now. No wonder we're after Adam as well as getting Henderson.

Just part of his rehab isn't it - taking no chances. No long flights etc.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

            Here's the story:-

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard will miss the Reds' pre-season tour of Asia as he continues to recover from a groin operation.

The 31-year-old has been out of action since March.

"I'm sure people will appreciate Steven giving himself the best opportunity to play on the opening day," manager Kenny Dalglish told the club website.

"Steven and the medical team are in the final stages of getting him back to full training."
            More to follow.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will not travel with the rest of the squad for the forthcoming pre-season friendlies in the Far East.

Gerrard is strugling with fitness after missing the end of the 2010/11 season through injury.

Liverpool play Guangdong Sunray Cave in Guangzhou on July 13th, before a Malaysia X1 three days later.

However the skipper will stay on Merseyside and is concentrating on getting back to action in time for the new Premier League season in mid-August.

A dissapointed Gerrard told the club’s official website, “I’d really been looking forward to travelling out to China, Malaysia and Singapore and meeting first hand as many of our fans as possible, and I’m really sorry that I won’t now be able to do that. All of us at the Club realise the incredible support we enjoy in these countries and how much it means to our supporters there.

“But after sitting down and talking with the medical experts and technical staff, it’s been decided that the best course of action is for me to continue my rehabilitation programme at Melwood. It’s disappointing I won’t be with them, but I’m sure the lads who go out there will put a great show on for our fans.”

He said in mid may he has two months of rehab left and said recently he hopes to make the last couple of friendlies. He's still recovering.

From past quotes I don’t think there was ever any intention of him going on the tour. I think recent comments are just to appease our Asian fans, especially as we don’t even have Suarez.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I can understand that we take it easy and don't want to rush him back.

If he get the same injury again then his time at the top could be over. We can't afford to gamble.

He'll be injured half the season anyway.

Gerrard underwent scan on groin last week to assess extent of his recovery. Results said to be positive but #LFC still exercising caution

I'm glad he's not going on 2 long haul flights. I think it will help his overall recovery and limit the risk of further injury.

Even if the club thought he was fully recovered he's better off staying at home.
