    Well done FSG

I think the owners need to be congratulated for putting their money where their mouths are. Carroll, Suarez, Downing, Henderson, Adam and Doni all since January.

Thats a lot of investment into the team and god knows we did need it. Im not sure its over yet either.

Certainly a massive contrast to last season where we lost mascherano and replaced him with poulsen as well as signing brad jones, joe cole, paul konchesky and raul meireles.

Add to that the decisions to bring back Kenny with Steve Clarke goes to show that these guys are sports people.

They have spent about £35m more than they have received, so its sensible spending. Although you could argue that they overpaid on 3 of those players. They should recoup most of that if we qualify in the top 4.

If they stump up for a defender and a striker, I will be very happy.

Think they've shown themselves to be wise so far. The problem is does being smart and wise get you success when you're up against the wealth of Chelsea and City?!

        Let's hope so.

Let's sew how the season pans out. Have we done enough for top 4, not really sure myself.

for me we needed a bit more creativity and balance in midfield and weve achieved that.

watching charlie adam the other day i was very impressed with his efforts and his all round play will certainly add a lot to us. the difference between good players and great players is miliseconds. given time any of us could pick out passes correctly but the best players play the ball quicker and without fuss like alonso did.

lucas for all his endevour always takes a touch to control another touch to set and a third to pass. that all might be done within 3 or 4 seconds which isnt a lot of time but 3 or 4 seconds is a lot of time for players to close down space again. he was brilliant for us last season and rightly should be first choice with adam and gerrard.

alonso was the master of picking out first time short balls turning defense into attack and starting counters whilst the opposition werent ready or had lost their shape. from what i saw of adam he does have that sort of ability. he needs to match alonsos work rate but the first signs were promising.

downing will add a big attacking option to the left and those two players alone should add at least 6 extra points. a fully fit andy carroll and fit luis suarez will add another 6 points or so.

i think we will have 12 points more than lst season and i think thats enough for top 4. then next season we can look at other players like mata or pastore who can really take us to the next level.

If that turns out to be the case would it be a failure on FSG's behalf or that the money given to Dalglish hasn't been used to get the result wanted?

If things stay as they are, we will have improved, but not sufficiently enough to get back into the top 4. Doesn't have to be anyone's fault, we probably don't have enough money to do it. Like many others, I was hoping FSG would invest rather just re-invest, but we have to live within our means and all that.

If we don't finish in the top it will be a bit of a disaster, in my opinion.

                          Really?

The end of last season showed we were close, we have now improved the squad and team significantly, I think we should make the top 4 based on the current squads of ourselves and the other top 6 clubs. I would be gutted if we didn't make the top four as things stand.

put it this way, i think utd have too much for us, same city who will both have spent some serious cash. spurs will lose modric because no matter what harry pretends to say he wants to sell him for a decent fee to bring in 2 or 3 new faces so they will be there or there abouts.

arsenal will struggle the most without fabregas, nasri and clichy and im not sure they will qualify for next seasons champions league. chelsea have to adapt to VB's tactics and as things stand they simply dont have the players to do that. torres cant hold the ball up front by himself, and they dont have 2 exceptionally fast young wingers. instead they have malouda and kalou. also the way VB plays requires very young players and chelsea dont have them.

so we have a chance. we need to aim for 70 points and if thats the case then i think we'll qualify for the champions league. maybe even in 3rd.

Modric was a big player for Spurs and it will take alot to replace him, they'll be lucky to get another player as good, and if they don't they'll need to adapt the system they play, which could make things better or worse.

Arsenal could lose Fabregas and Nasri as well as Clichy. They also need to address some long standing problems. It's a big summer for them.

Man Utd need their new keeper to settle quickly. Van der Sar was a big player for them and if De Gea takes time to settle that will weaken them.

Man City will spend money, but if they lose Tevez they lose a key part of their team, they have spent alot of money before but the signings haven't always worked out or settled in yet, if that continues they will miss Tevez.
