Champions League - other English teams

I know there has been much debate about showing support for other English sides when they play in Europe, but you have to admit, being the only English side to win this week, and being the only English side to have already qualified, feels great.

Imagine how great it would feel to be the only English side to qualify?

personally i'd prefer the italians to win the CL than anyother english club so if we were the only english club left in the competition as per may 2005 i'm happy

Being norwegian I don`t have this problem at all, and supporting other norwegian teams are no problem either as none make far anyway.

But I can`t see how you "should" support other english teams, you just can`t turn of hating the Scum for one match, can you?

True,we want any team near us in the PL.to come out of their Euro. matches feeling shattered,lacking in confidence, and thinking that maybe they are not as great as they thought they where.

No you can't. I don't get this thing about wanting English teams to do well. I want all the others to lose all of the time. If we don't win the CL I positively don't want another English team to win and couldn't care less if a foreign team does

I want them all to do just well enough to keep us having 4 teams in the competition. I do think it increases my interest level when English teams are still in it though - just because I'm more familiar with the players.

Just after a quick look, I think we're one of only 5 teams to have qualified allready:

Liverpool
PSV
Valencia
Lyon
Milan

That's pretty good going, and the only side with more points are Lyon (12), I think they will go far this season, unless they meet us.

I would like nothing more than to eliminate Lyon from the competition. Benitez v Houllier, the tactical genius against well, Houllier, has the makings of a classic.

Well i would doubt we will play them in the last 16, because I see us topping the group, last 8 is a possibility tho, I've seen it in the stars.

Tbh, my interest in this competition wanes if we get knocked out, and to wish the other english teams left in the competition well is a complete non-starter.

I was cheering, if you will, Barca last season against the Arse, and generally speaking they are the only ones of the top 4 (excluding us natch), that i can stomach

Take last years CL Final for example. I wanted Barca to beat Arsenal because I wanted us to be the last English team to ein the CL. Also I didn't want Arsenal to gain the extra cash of winning the thing.

In short if Man U/Chelsea/Everton etc were playing in the world tiddlywinks championship, I would want who they were playing to win.

Not 1, but 2 Euro trophies this century, I love ramming that fact down other clubs throats, and would hate for any other English team to win any one of them!
